Seriously - RELAX!

I know we work in a litigious field, but c'mon!  Is it me or is everyone going a little nuts?  I know as a buyer today you have tons of options and your expectations are high - and that's just the name of the game right now, but being so nit picky and nickle and diming all the sellers is getting a little out of hand in my opinion!

Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean that you SHOULD.

I have applied this logic to divorce as well - (pardon me while I do a little rant) but it seems to me that people these days are all about getting something for nothing!  In terms of divorce - just because you shared a life does not mean you should be tied together eternally and that you are OWED something!  Get out and do for yourself!  Have some dignity!  Just because some random financial table says you're entitled to an extra $300 a month doesn't mean you should go after it!  I mean is it really worth it?  Wouldn't you rather be independent and respectful and NOT greedy?

Apparently I am alone in this thinking.  Everyone seems to be all about 'ME ME ME'!  I freakin hate it!  What happened to using common sense and integrity and ethical choices and treating others as you wish to be treated?  There's a lot of talk about Karma, but so many people seem to think it only applies when they want it to!

So back to Real Estate:  There will always be the possibility that something can go wrong in a deal.  It is my job to protect your interests, but it stinks that every time you ask me a question I have to direct you to go to your lawyer to cover my butt!  Wouldn't it be nice if we could just be honest and use some common sense and not go looking for who to blame should something go wrong.  Don't get me wrong - take action if you're being screwed - but BE REASONABLE people!

That's my opinion anyway.

Buyers know they can get away with murder right now, that is the problem.  If the Sellers don't have to sell, they shouldn't let themselves be pushed around by greedy buyers.

Good points.  We've owned several businesses, as well as had scores of renters over the years.  We've yet to go to court over anything, so fortunately for us, the lawyer thing hasn't been an issue.  In fact, none of our buyers/sellers have needed a lawyer as a result of our transaction with them.  [crosses fingers right now!]

Well - honestly if we were to abide by all the advice on how to cover our butts - we'd never be able to do a deal - I actually think crossing fingers works!  hehe.  Thanks for your comments!

Teri-Lyn, welcome to Active Rain, and great post. :)

I enjoyed your freaking rant. :)

This is already a great market for buyers.  Things have slowed down; prices have come down; homes are taking longer to sell, which already makes sellers a little more flexible.  There is no need to insult them by going overboard on the nickle and diming...

Being 'nice' and doing unto others - the golden rule - ... will probably get you the best deal, or it will make it easier for the seller to deal with you/accept your offer.  This is emotional for both sides.  Being considerate of the other party will always help.

Hi Teri-Lyn.....thats funny - I did catch one of your earlier posts......actually i think it was your first post - and it was on Localism........:-) Sylvie is a dear friend and I thank her for mentioning me to you.........since we're just about neighbours and nobody out here blogs much - :-)  So welcome......hi and hello - and thanks for adding me as a subscriber......I'll add you too!  Talk to you soon!

As for divorce....hmmm......we'll have to talk about that one one  day - I for one - get 1/2 the support I could get, from an ex that would probably be required to pay 3x that much according to his salary.......:-) so not everyone is meme..:p-)

Hey Liz - it's a tight knit close community on here!  Glad to know you both!  I too am divorced and receive nothing even though I was stay at home mom for 16 years!  I know not everyone will agree with me - I'm not your typical female.  Politically Conservative with less emphasis on socialism.  More interested in empowering people and giving them a hand in helping themselves.  Will see how many people I offend!  ;)

Looking forward to meeting some day soon!

Cheers Neighbor!

Teri-Lyn- You are funny girl.  I am sticking around for more!

I agree w/you, there is a ton of that going around now.  Some are ridiculous & some are sensible & realize that people aren't losing money like that and they aren't making $ like that!  Get serious! KM

How true this can be. It is sometimes hard to get buyers and sellers to be realistic.

Thank you! What amazes me even more are those who are fraudulent and deceitful.  It is so disheartening to see a person, who after 20 years of marriage wants to leave his or her soon to be ex-spouse. in debt and destitute! Can't we all just get along??

I wouldn't want 1/2 of what we've got - it's just debt! - he can have the whole thing!  LOL

@Angela Reeves - Bahahaha!  That's hillarious.  Boy was I on a rant that day!  Well I guess I'm a little like 'Tell-It-Like-It-Is' Teri these days....but I'm sick of all the political correctness and coddling!

On another note - Nice to meet you neighbor!  Cheers!

I agree with your "tell it like it is" feelings - these days it's all "risk managment strategies" and no real communication - can't we all just get along and be honest and ethical and do business without all the fear of being sued?   Maybe not.....
