15 Comments on Jumping Jacks?
Jumping Jacks! I'm still waiting for the post about your first 5k.
Dan! I haven't forgotten. I actually was thinking about the 5k that I owe you while I was on my treadmill today. Going into the cold season now I have a couple months of training time. You know I'm gonna call your cell phone the day that I run my first race!!!!! It's gonna be one heck of a good day. :0)
Interesting idea Lindsey. Maybe I should try it too.
I actually used to utilize those commercial breaks to do very basic exercises. Almost two years ago, I lost 62 lbs. from walking, eating a little different and simple exercises like jumping jacks for twenty minutes three times a week.
I'd be interested in the effects you experience from trying this for one month. I got a shiny quarter that says you'd be down ten pounds. Thanks for the post!
Go Lindsey! Take a few minutes to do a small circuit instead of just jumping jacks during those commercials. Alternate 10 jumping jacks, 10 very small squats (don't let your knee's go beyond a 90 degree angle), push ups (start on your knees and work up to doing them the traditional way), and some crunches (I do these while on an excercise ball which is better for the back and engages more ab muscles than on the floor).
Doing one excercise gets really boring for me, but work in a small circuit and it can be fun. Especially if you can get the family involved and make it a fun contest.
So what 5k have you signed up for! (that's a hint to go ahead and sign up for one so you'll be motivated to train for it!)
You can do it, girl!
Lindsey,
What a great idea...I have not watched the shoq since its second season....but I did like it when I did.....
Paddy - You go girl!
Justin - I wish that I didn't have to work so hard at losing! Yowzers! You did awesome. Maybe I should take you up on the ten pound challenge. :-)
Donna - When I excercise it's with two kids crawling all over me. Funny I know, but crazy too. I haven't signed up for a 5k yet. I was going to sign up for one this fall and things got in the way. I am determined even if it takes me ten years to get there!
Dan - I think that I missed most of the 2nd season... been watching ever since!
I haven't watched this season. I think it's on at the same time as House, and I'm totally engrossed in that show now. But maybe I should start doing this, too. We tend to watch a little TV in the evenings. Thanks for sharing!
Joslyn - I haven't done the jumping jacks yet, but the idea has spawned me to be busier during commercial breaks! I actually "watch" very little tv, but it is on a lot! I hate just sitting and watching.. I multi-task alot.
Hi Lindsey,
I can relate to this a little. As I am sitting on the couch watching t.v., it always runs through my mind that I should be exercising not watching t.v.
I do Jumping Jills during the commercials - jump up and run to the bathroom, jump up and put in a load of laundry, jump up and answer the phone.
Besides I can't miss House.
Angelica - It's the thought that counts, right?
Kathleen - That's hilarious!!!! That was my mom when we were growing up!
I like the jumping jills, too Kathleen. Usually by the time I am ready to watch tv, I don't sit down, I lay down and fall asleep - quickly. I could do sit ups, I guess. lol
It's a great idea, but if we didn't spend so much time in front of the tv in the first place, most of us wouldn't have to worry so much about losing weight!! :-(
Regina - I was just thinking about that last night... how easy it is to sit and fall asleep. Wish I could watch endless hours of tv like someone else I know.
Mindy - Yes, this is probably true. In my case, it's too bad that computers don't have commercials! I'm on my computer much more than watching tv.
