GREEN not GREED!

By
Mortgage and Lending

I received a letter from the the CEO of the US Green Building Council, Rick Fedrizzi, offering the hope for homeowners and those in the green building industry who are concerned about the viability of our Green Movement. With everyone questioning the viability of the housing market in general, he reminds us that good is always valued. In fact, when you come right down to it, good equals value.

To quote Fedrizzi: "The greed that led the world economy into crisis will not defeat our commitment to good work." He reminds us that we cannot wait for change to be effected by our legislators, our bankers, our employers or our mentors. It's up to us to create these positive changes for ourselves. By voting for officials we can support and then NOT just leaving it up to them but to get to work behind them and speak about, write about, blog about and take our need for positive change into the center of our real lives.

Change is hard. Not changing and waiting for things to get better is harder. We can create our own agenda, our own thinking, our own actions, as ultimately our abundance and our freedom!

So remember the new mantra of our times: Green is Good!

Susan, I believe the green builders are on the right tract, we are using Geo-Thermo systems, and I've been hearing some encouraging things about higher efficiency colored glass for solar applications. The next political administration will see the value in promoting an domestic energy policy and should spend money on new research and application. Builders willing to use new technologies will benefit from credits and stimulus tax write offs. It's coming -green will be embraced and rewarded.

Green is no longer a fad; it's here to stay. I believe it's one of the means to success in our futures--in more ways than just the environment. I'm currently finishing work on a book called "Shrewd Homebuying," and have included a major section on green building. I also have included it in my website in information for buyers.

Environmentally friendly doesn't just mean good for the environment; it makes and saves "cents."

Hey Steve thanks for your coments. I agree we have the plus column at last to do things better and for all the right reasons. Thank goodness the new solar and alternative tax incentives will help support that. I, like you, will watch and encourage our new leaders to keep it up! Susan
