The Forester Girls

After reading Liz Moras "Circle of Friends" made me think of five girlfriends who I have named "The Forester Girls"  because each girl used to live on Forester Lane and now, two of the girls moved one street away to be on the Golf Course, and another is about 2 miles away.  Even though they are close, it was hard to catch up with each other.  So, we started a monthly dinner.  First, we would meet at a restaurant but they did not like us hanging around after eating - wanted to fill the table again.  This made us feel rushed. So we decided to start in January 2008, on the first or second Wednesday night to meet at each other home.  The Hostess home is responsible for the entrée, and then the others will bring vegetables, salad or dessert. So far , we have had a dinner each month this year.  It is an event everyone looks forward to attending.  We have delicious food  great friendship and lots of fun.  I have come to the conclusion the only way to keep your friends is to make a commitment and take the time to nourish the friendship

What a great idea Sharon!  We all seem so busy these days - it you plan, start a tradition....there is so much nurturing, sharing, fun and laughter to be had from having a group of friends that you consistently get together one!

Sharon, I used to meet with a group of friends, a few times a year, at our favourite restaurant.  For years and years, they would just let us hang around, no matter how many hours we sat there for. We became their best customers.  Then the restaurant was sold and, as you mentioned, they rushed you out.  We felt unwanted .... We stopped going. We even lost track of each other for a while ... and then started doing the same thing a few years ago, at a different restaurant every time.
We went back to "our place" about a week ago. It brought back so many memories.
Being with friends, sharing, laughing, crying... is all very important.
We need to make more time for it.

Happy blogging. :)
