It's time to hop back on the time machine and travel back in time to the past! Where the machine will stop, we never know.  O.K.,so I know, because I.m writing this post!

2008...1990...1980...1970...Let's see what life was like for professional home stagers in the 1970's

What would home staging be like for us in the year 1970?

This year wasn't so long ago for some of us...just 38 years ago!  Things certainly have changed in such a short time though.  Home staging in the 70's would have been just...groovy!  The age of disco, platform shoes, bell bottoms and The Brady Bunch!

You may have been sporting this stylish pre-washed denim pant set when you met with clients for a consultation.  So comfortable and yet impressive enough to let others know your a professional!

Who could forget the platform shoes!  These would have gone great with this denim suit and yet come in handy on those staging days...when you forgot your hammer!

And yes... ladies if you were lucky enough to have a man back in those days...he was probably sporting something very similar to one of these groov-a-licious outfits.  Courtesy of 1976 J.C. Penney catalog!

When thinking of the types of homes we may have staged back in 1970...it's not hard to imagine when we look inside T.V. Land to discover some of our favorite shows from the 70's.  The sets of The Brady Bunch and Partridge Family are very typical of the types of decor we may have come across.  A lot of avocado greens, burnt umbers, and golds!

You may have been loading up your inventory into your roomy mode of transportation...the van!

Your inventory pieces may have included some of these trendy pieces!

                                                 The Lava Lamp

Here's and example of the golds and greens that were so prevalent in the 70's!

Don't know who the guy in the corner is, he must have traveled through the time machine to see the 1970's decor too!

Can't go without mentioning...that while you were staging you probably were listening to disco music with this groovy flip radio!     Gosh, who needs ipods, when you have this kind of technology!

Staging in the 1970's was probably a lot of FUN...that's if you could keep away from the disco long enough to stage a house!

Oh, Good Golly, Miss Molly (I mean Michelle), do we HAVE to do the 70's? NOOOOOO....no avocado green shag carpeting on ANY floor. LOL   Did I ever tell you my whole house was AVOCADO GREEN? And I had the "rake" to rake the carpet... Avo appliances.  Sofa and chair....   OMG.    I hope I can sleep tonight after thinking about the 70's.

Kat-Oh my gosh...THE RAKE!  I almost forgot about that. LOL The good thing is...if you haven't remodled your house yet, these colors are great for Fall and many of these trends are back in style today! ;0) I'm not joking, if you haven't remodled since then...we need to talk!

Michelle - I like your "time machine" posts.  The 70's were an interesting decade.  I was born in 1970, so many of my formative years were spent looking at stuff like I see here in your post.  Oh well, I guess we survived.

Thank god polyester has evolved.  I remember people standing too close to a flame and melting in horrible pain.

lol... .actually I kind of like the pant suit... lol!  When I was a kid I was responsible for raking the carpet.  I often remind my kids of that... how funny...

Michelle: Can we go to 1997? That was the beginning of my R.E. career and it was sweet. LOL http://alumni.brown.edu/classes/1997/ whoopie.

I remember feeling so cool in the 70's. And when I see those smiling with confidence photos? Well... let's say they're deliciously cringe-worthy. :-)
