This morning on MSNBC, this AP image tells a thousand words:

Our National Debt | Your Family Share

Folks, I hope you are using your hard earned real estate monies to pay off debt and gather up a small nest egg of emergency funds. My wife and I are. The future is certainly going to be tough once we sort out all the money the government is pumping into the system. And, we haven't even touched the credit card crisis that looms ahead of us like the tsunami it is.

Emergency funds, reducing credit card debt, tightening our budget and yes, waiting for the tsunami... because as your picture shows us, if we don't tackle it now, our children and generations down the line will have to.  Thanks for the post.

I try not to think about it!  Imagine if tax cuts become a reality?  You know we really cannot afford to pay for that or national health insurance! Interest rates are starting to climb already.  It's like President Jimmy Carter all over again. 21% interest rates!  Do you remember when?  Should be very interesting!

It's a good point you make here.  The thought of the amount of debt we carry in this country is scary.

I just updated the blog entry with McCain's take on Obama's tax plans.  I believe in welfare, etc., but when we have money to spend for it.

Joe & Colleen - It's disgusting that some are really going to benefit financially during these times of uncertainty...  I think that it's good advice to have *emergency* funds on hand...
