Labyrinth Last night I introduced my daughter, Ashley,  to one of

my favorite old movies:  Labyrinth.

The movies chronicles the adventures of a teen age girl, who makes a mistake, she quickly comes to regret.

In an evening of frustrated baby sitting with her little brother - the girl calls out to the Goblin King (BOWIE) to come take her brother away - RIGHT NOW!

To her shock - he does just that!  she immediately realizes her mistake - begs the Goblin King to return her little brother - to which her challenges her to solve his Labyrinth to win back the child.

Of course, the Goblin King sends minions to try to trip her up every step step of the way.

The film co-creators include Jim Henson and Frank Oz, of Muppet fame,  using the most delightful and intriguing collections of creatures to make the story come alive.

The creativity of the Puppetry is outstanding!

The film is a delightful musical, with songs composed and performed by David Bowie himself!

Of course, lovely Sarah solves the Labyrinth, challenging the Goblin King, who does return her brother.  The finale comes with Sarah keeping her colorful new friends Forever!

Ashley gives this movie a two thumbs up!    Ashley says, 'this is a great movie to watch

with your family or friends.  Sarah learns to not take things for granted, and

she learns to ask questions, and keep asking better questions.'

Great Lessons for all of us!!

Laurie - I would have thought there would be more comments to your post, but then again the group is small. We will get some new members and really make the group rock if you know what I mean. That's great that your daughter is a BOWIE fan, David was way ahead of his time.

Hey Robert,

Ashley and I have now watched this movie several times since I first showed it to her (we were both a little under the weather on Sunday).  We talk about the different 'lessons' in the film (I am using our chats to develop another post)

Thanks,   Laurie

Hey Laurie, Sound good to me and I will post another blog in a couple weeks and try to get some more members. Many times, blogs get missed by many people because there are so many members at Active Rain. Do you know that I have seen David Bowie perform 5 different times in my life?

One time in 1975 when he did the Stations to Stations tour, I was standing right in front of him for 2 hours while he performed. Before he would start singing I knew by the sound of the instruments playing the song already and would scream the name of the song out. He would just turn around and look at me with a bewildered face. At that time I was 17 years of age and it was so much fun.

Oh, Robert,

That is Amazing!  Sadly, I have not seen him in concert.  I have a new goal, plus now Ashley will want to go too!

Thanks,    Laurie

My girls and I love the Labyrinth!

We know it by heart.  I love David Bowie's hair and his costume!  Toby Froud is all grown up now and we see him at the FaerieWorlds Festival in Oregon.  Toby and his parents are guests of honor at the celebration.  Brian and Wendy Froud still design lots of puppets and teach classes all over the world.  You will know Wendy mostly for designing Yoda from Star Wars.   Take care and tell your daughter to stay away from the Bog of Eternal Stench!

Laurie - That is so cool to get a comment like this from Leslie, I am back to posting pics of Bowie. If I have to remove them because someone doesn't like it then I will. Like you mentioned when I spoke with you over the phone, this group is a tribute to David Bowie aka (David Jones).

Here is a pic from the Diamond Dogs era

Hey Robert,

Thanks!  I loved Leslie's comment and pics.  So cool how 'young man Toby'  looks like 'baby Toby.'

Take care,   Laurie

Hey awesome!  This is one of my favorite movies. :)

I never had any younger siblings so I can't identify with wishing one away personally, but it makes a perfect movie premise.
