The Kapalua Resort has been hosting a Coffee Hour for Kapalua Resort owners in an effort to provide updates on the Resort and a forum for discussion.

The next Kapalua Owner's Coffee Hour will be on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 7:30 a.m at the Kapalua Adventure Center Cafe.

The last Coffee Hour was held at Merrimans, and featured several speakers:

  • Doug Chang and Jenny Ochtera from the Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua Bay explained the vision for the new resort project.  Scheduled to open in April, 2009, this luxury residential property will focus on providing guests and owners with a cultural and historical connection to this place we have all come to know and love.
  • Ryan Churchill, MLP SVP of Corporate Development, provided an update on the Kapalua Spa, which is scheduled to open in June, 2009.  Designed by internationally known spa consultant, Syvlia Sepielli in conjunction with Hawaiian cultural experts, this will be a unique spa experience.  Plans include 19 treatment rooms (indoor and outdoor), along with a full service salon, complete fitness facilities, a saline lap pool, as well as a sauna, steam, and whirlpool.  The Kapalua Spa will be open to both Ritz-Carlton Club and Residence, Kapalua Bay owners, as well as to Kapalua Club Gold and Platinum Members.
  • Randy Bartlett, Pu'u Kukui Watershed Preserve Manager, discussed the latest projects for the Preserve and the resort.  One such project is to restore a 30-acre field that had once been used for pineapple cultivation to a native ecosystem. (Maui Land and Pineapple has participated in the Honolua Wao Kele.  This is part of the Hawaii Forest Stewardship Program, which is administered by DLNR.  ML&P has planned a series of native planting projects for its conservation lands.)
  • Jocelyn Fujii, Author spoke about her new book: "Kapalua Nui, Place of Life"   This wonderful book provides a history of the resort, as well as an introduction to several members of the Kapalua Community.  Randy Bartlett, discusses the Pu'u Kukui Watershed and his efforts toward preservation.  Our very own Silla Kaina, provides her perspective not only as our Cultural Advisor here in the Kapalua Resort, but as someone who grew up in the Honolua Village Plantation.  This lovely book is available at www.kapalua.com or at the Honolua Store.
