DorothyToday has been a very interesting day to say the least and I can honestly say like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz "There's no place like home".  I am so happy to be home, but it seems like everything is just not going to well today.  We flew in last night from Indianapolis after driving from Fort Wayne.  Our flight was due to depart at 8pm Indiana time which put us driving through Indy during rush hour.

Along the way I was answering questions since my partner, Crystal, told some people I was flying home at 10:30 am instead of pm.  We arrived to drop off our rental and, after filling up one block from the rental company, the rental company charged us for the tank being a hair off of the full line!

We were in such a hurry since we left later than we should have so we ignored that and just continued on to our flight.  We made it there and checked in and made it through security with an hour to spare.  Flying back home nothing major happened, but it was after mid-night when we finally arrived back at home.

As soon as we came in our furry family came to greet us.  We were all completely exhausted.  My son starting getting ready for bed immediately and was in bed shortly after we arrived at home.  My husband decided it was time to eat though.

We didn't have anything to eat from the time we left my In Laws house at 3pm EST until we arrived at home last night except for junk food of course.  We had a layover in Denver, but by the time our flight arrived and we all used the rest room, it was already time to board our flight for Phoenix.  Of course in flight they were no longer serving meals and had only snacks available for purchase...chips and candy mostly.  They were not serving the salads or fruits like they were on the way to Indy.

So when we arrived at home I started looking for something to make.  Opening our fridge I determined we were in desperate need to make a run to theSpaghetti store....which I was not about to do at that hour.  We had no milk, eggs, orange juice...almost nothing at all.  What we did have in the refrigerator was some onions, pickles and hot dogs which have been there so long I am scared to look at them.

I was able to find some spaghetti and frozen meatballs and sauce so I decided to make that.  Then morning came and we all went out to breakfast.  I also brought my mother along and we ate at Mimi's Cafe, which is located in the new Promenade Shopping Center in Casa Grande just off I-10.

After breakfast I dropped my mother off at my sister's house to watch my nephews while my husband and I went to pay on some bills and get some groceries. I also decided to stop at my office to check on things and found my desk, which I had cleaned spotless before I left, was a huge mess.

When we left I noticed the car was making a strange noise.  Now before leaving I had filled my gas tank and had parked the car at my mother's house and she was using it while I was gone.  I had asked her before heading to Casa Grande, which is about a 10 minute drive from home, whether or not we would need gas.  She stated that she had only been into town about 3 times and had only really used my car around Arizona City.  Now I usually only fill up once a week and make at least 6-7 trips to Casa Grande weekly.

My car has a broken gage for the gas tank so most of the time it reads the tank as empty.  With what my mother told me I passed the gas stations up and was going to hit them on the way back to Arizona City.  When my husband and I started out of the parking lot for my office the car quit in the middle of the road with cars coming straight at us!  It was not a very fun time.

Gas CanMy husband managed to get the car started enough to get on the other side side (we were turning left) and then the car completely quit at which time I told him I believe we are out of gas.   One of the agents in my office had pulled out going right just after we did and he turned around and came back to see if everything was OK.  My husband told him he thought we were out of gas....less than 1/2 of a block from the gas station....so the agent said he would tow us.  At that time a police officer pulled up behind us...I was sitting at the wheel since my husband had started to push the car to the gas station.

The officer's first question was if I had been driving!  Have you ever noticed that male officers automatically think the woman is the one to run out of gas.  We made it to the station and filled up and presto! the car runs good as new.  It is truly amazing how a car runs when it has go go juice!

We decided to get the shopping done later since my Brother-In-Law had called my mother and was on his way home.  After arriving at home and realizing I was hungry...and still had not shopped...I was able to find some rice and Kidney Beans.  I love rice and beans and this is an easy way for me to make it since it is not on my husbands list of eatable foods.

I opened the microwave and guess what I found...the meatballs from the spaghetti dinner from last night!  Neither myself or my husband remembered I had made them.  This is just a lesson that if you cannot remember what you have cooked you are probably too tired to eat and should just go to bed!

I am glad to be home even after all that has happened today!  There is really no place like home.  I missed having my sister around to talk to...who by the wayAmadeus is my partner and the one who messed up my desk while I was away.  I missed going to visit my parents especially on Friday nights when my older brother calls.  I missed my furry family especially my Amadeus who has been in our family the longest and who always sleeps on my left side and keeps me warm...I am always sandwiched between my husband and cat! And finally I just missed my house and having my computer all to myself.

At my In Laws in Indiana I had to share time on the computer with 3 other people so I have missed quite a few posts from my favorite bloggers because they usually have really long posts and I had very limited computer time.  I am happy to be home where we have 2 computers between 3 people and I can finally catch up with those very important messages from my friends here at AR!

Chastity - Who ever told you that the Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite shows? And Judy Garland was born and raised in Minnesota, the same state I was born and raised.

And there is no place like home
