Are Real Estate Agent Coaches Really Worth It?

Who uses a Real Estate agent coach?

I've see numerous advertisements regarding real estate coaching. Is it really worth the money? Which services work? Which are frauds?

I think having a trusted group of agents to keep each other motivated can be just as effective. Often good old fashion hard work is required, but other times it seems like time and money poorly spent... Any thoughts?

Aaron, I don't know about outside company coaches, but I am a field trainer in our company and I mentor anyone who asks.  I agree that surrounding yourself with other "like minded" people that are motivated (like the AR community) might be the best bang for you buck. :)

The old joke is that a consultant is a person who borrows your watch in order to tell you what time it is!

I've never utilized a real estate coach, but I would imagine that they would pretty much serve the same purpose that a personal trainer does in the gym.  It's not that you don't know how to do the exercise, it's that you need him or her to make sure that you do it!

So, you have to be honest with yourself.  You know what you need to do to be successful in this business, if left to your own accord, will you do it?

Interesting question...I think there's great value in a Real Estate Coach.  I think, as with many other things in life, it's just a matter of choosing the right one (of course, then comes the question of how to choose). I would probably choose one based on personal referral from others that have achieved great results.  I agree that being coached by successful Agents is probably just as effective.  I feel that Coaching, period, is very necessary, especially early in our Career and, of course, there's ongoing education even when we're no longer new to the business because there's always something new and beneficial to learn...we can always improve.

I think a real estate coach is an excellent idea, IF you listen to them and do what they tell you to do! If you pay to have the coaching you need to use it! I have a coach through By Referral Only, and most importantly it has helped me to be accountable!  I have a call every 2 weeks from my coach and I want to make sure that I have accomplished some things over the 2 week period when she asks what I did since we last spoke! I ask the same question you asked to other agents that I meet and it seems that a lot of the successful agents do have coaches.  Only you can make the choice to be "coachable."

I have a coach right now.  She is all that is standing between me and insanity. :) I thought I wasn't coachable but once I learned to listen and tried her suggestions and did my home work life just got better.

My broker gives personal one on one coaching once every two weeks.  It is great because it keeps me focused.  Try a mentor!

I tried a coach several years ago and for me it was a waste of money.  I'm sure each case is different.  In this instance they used the same methods for everyone and what they were using was not comfortable to me.  I'm sure that it also depends upon the coach.  I do love taking classes and learning and I'm finding a wealth on information here on active rain.
