Well, the last couple of days have been some trying days!  A pretty rough week to provide services....I found myself asking is this a sign to waive the white flag.

Last night, my laser printer just blew up, literally.  You all know in the realty biz, it is a must to have a good reliable printer.  I spent the day shopping and comparing prices for a printer.

Oh my gosh, if one more sales clerk tries to push a printer on me, I think I will scream!  I know for sure that I am going to have nightmares tonight!

I heard the Ebay song and started singing it, so of course I go there and to my surprise I find one I like, so the offer was for a straight buy or for the best offer.  Well, I made a offer, which was declined, so I made another, the seller countered offer, I countered offer, and the drama went on.  The bottom lined I refused in the end because the person really didn't want the best offer, it was a ploy.  The bait and trap game.

I looked at the Brothers, the HPs and I plum just give up for the day. So, please, please help me with my dismay and offer a recommendation, so I may rest my brain from the drama of today.

I just bought the Brother hl-4040-cn and it works great. It also came with a $150 rebate from staples.

I have the Brother MFC 9840 MFC - I got it from Costco. Not cheaper though think the price has dropped by now. It is a multifunction machine - laser printer, copier, autodoc feeder scanner and fax. I love it!

I worked for many years for a wholesale lender, and we printed about 100 closing pkgs daily just in our regional office.  Before I left there (to work independently), I spoke to HQ's IT and asked WHY they chose the HP 2400 series printers for all the offices nationally - they said because these 'workhorses' were the most reliable, rarely gliched, were built to perform under such huge demands.  I could attest to that - we had 4 of these just in the closing dept, and they almost never failed us.

I always try to 'use' someone else's extensive experience & research (my benefit, their dollar!) - so I used this info and bought an HP 2420 in '05, and it has YET to hiccup or sneeze.  I couldn't be happier with it.

I like the Brother MFC 8860DN. Put the brand of printer on www.mysimon.com and it will compare prices  for that printer throughout the United States.

Also take a look at www.compu-american.com it has refurbished laser printers at great prices.

Hi Pam

Did you decide on a machine yet?  I recommend HP products.  They cost more but they stand the test of time.  I bought a Xerox a couple of years ago and have had many problems.  Next time, I'm going back to HP.

Joan: Thank You!  I love the Brother products...

Joanna:  Yes, I went with a Brother HL 5240.  Thanks!

You guys aren't going to believe this one, well I will give you all a laugh at my expense.  You all know how bad time are right now, let's just say I was able to get a laser printer for$ .99 that is right 99 cents, all I had to pay was $25.20 for shipping..it was a floor model.  I was assured that the printer was tested and prints well.  I had to buy the toner and ink and got each of those items for $33 each.  Now, I figure I am taking a risk, however, I truly believe this was a God sent gift for me.   Once I get the items in, I will give you my reviews good or bad...Heck, I am willing to take the risk and have faith to save a dollar.

If you can get at least 1 year out of it you have the deal of the century.

Check out www.inkandtoner4less.com  to buy cloned/re-manufactured ink and toner cartridges at a big discounted price.

I have been using them for years ( I don't receive anything for recommending them.)

Jacqueline : I have the Xerox 6120 Phaser.  I had a HP that lasted me over 10 years and then I gave it away to a friend who used it for her daughter's reports.  My Xerox is less then 3 yrs old.

Pam - Congrats on the great deal!

Joan: I am hoping it is the deal of the century, I can't wait to test it out.  Yes, I did get off of Ebay.  I am what you call an advant Ebay Shopper...I have landed some great buys over the years, everything from a Murray Feiss Chandelier to oil paintings...thanks for the tip on ink, I all about the savings.

Joanna: Thanks

Check out www.freeprinters.com.  I use their Xerox solid ink printer and the quality is unbelievable for flyers and such. There's no upfront cost, lease or contract. The ink is a bit more but the impact is much higher it's worth it. I end up paying 8-10 cents each color print vs. the 35 cents my broker charges me...and I never have to go to Kinkos! I just printer them out at home.
