Must I Have a Blackberry?

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty Executives Premiere

I know I am behind the times and most of my collegues are connected via Blackberry. I realize that people expect immediate answers to their every question. But must I be connected to a blackberry to receive every email instantly and constantly be alerted to their importance? I check my email about 5 times a day. Isn't that enough? Do I need to be on call 24/7? Do you have a blackberry? What do you think? Is it really a necessity?

I still use smoke signals, Diane. :-) You know, two sticks, a pile of ember and a blanket (just kiddin') There's so much wifi now that I carry my notebook just about everywhere.

Diane, I stopped by to read your blog (after you commented on my post). Nice to meet another Realty Executive.  :)

I have a Blackberry and I love it.  It just takes a couple of minutes to check your emails on it.  I've been able to respond to some inquiries very quickly -- telling them I'm out with clients or on my way to an appointment and I'll call or email them once I'm back in the office.  If I hadn't replied via Blackberry within minutes, they would have moved on to the next agent on the list -- by the time I finished showing properties and checked my email on the computer and replied, they would have been in contact with the other agent and forgotten about me.  Today's client wants to know that we're there for them 24/7.

Judi ~ thanks for stopping by....good points about the blackberry, I may have to give in to it at some point. Keep me in mind if you have anyone who wants to come to cold, snowy, windy, Chicago! I'm sure it's a bit nicer in San Antonio right now!
