- Acknowledge the actual skeleton of a room - the form, lines, millwork, windows, size, scale, ceiling and floor planes
- Focus FIRST on the actual bones of a room, BEFORE what to fill it up with
- Recognize the common and extraordinary planes - vaulting, gables, angles, etc.
Space is expensive. Make the most of it, instead of diminishing it with excess ‘decorating'. Pay attention to structure and do everything to enhance it.

- Creating illusion with design, line and color
