DO YOU WANT A LEAD FROM ACTIVE RAIN?

By
Mortgage and Lending with Seacoast Mortgage Corporation, RI (20021119LB & 20031576LL), MA (MC2107) & CT MLO 10920

An agent I do business with sent out a referral on Active Rain and received many emails requesting the lead, but the most interesting one received was from an agent on Active Rain with NO picture and NO points.

Now, would you ever give a lead to someone who doesn't take the time to properly become a part of Active Rain before asking for a lead?

So, if you really want a lead, why not put your best foot forward and complete the profile?

great advice - the other thing is - if someone requests a referral - send a response. I have asked for a couple of them and never heard from the agents giving the referral.

I would wonder if that was a reflection on the agents ability to follow through!  Why join if you don't participate?

I would love more rain leads but the referral section disappeared.  I wonder if this will come back.

I've been getting emails this past week from a mortgage person wanting to get together and have lunch and discuss things, but his profile also has no picture or information.  I looked up his company and his name is not even on the roster... I haven't responded back so I don't instigate communication back.  It's scary!

Well, there may have been many reasons.  Perhaps they are new in the industry and not sure how to handle a referral.  Maybe it is someone who doesn't like spending too much time online.  Comment above:  referral section is gone?  ug.

No, the referral section is not gone.  It is under My Referrals in your home page.  I had to go check!

AR leads are a nice bonus but I think it is the one on one contact that you make which will make the lead successful.  If you don't already have a connection in the area where the lead is headed then pick up the phone and call a few AR members. Talk with them and make sure they are the right person for your lead.  Not all agents will be the right connection for your lead.  At least if you have talked to them you will have some idea of how they work.

Ann, I agree you are either in or out.. there is no such thing as a little bit pregnant, and as a member you need to participate or stay out.

Ann, Oh that is some "flash in the Pan"  agent that figures they can jump in on something great and receive but, not sow anything.

Agreed if your going to ask for a lead or send one it would be hard for the other person to take you seriously if you dont have a profile.

You're right. I think thought you must fully participate to reap the rewards of Active Rain. I recently had an agent tell me he was very inactive in the 'Rain, not much blogging, limited profile and got a referral. Go figure!

Good points Ann. Whenever I refer a lead to anyone in an area I am unfamiliar with I check to see what kind of online presence they have and how well that presence is maintained and updated.

I now find ALL of my referral sources through Active Rain.  I want to work with people who I know take the business seriously.  If someone can't even be bothered to upload a photo or a profile, then how proactive can they be with the rest of their business and following up with my referral??

Oh Ann, what a great point, I posted a referral for a listing in North Palm Beach - a condo on the water, I got about 25 responses.  Half of the responses had no points and not even a picture of themselves.  How can you be a TOP AGENT if you don't "follow through"? ???? ??

I want to work with those who are as serious about the business as I am!  My motto is to be available 24/7 ..........................

Hi Ann:

This may sound real creazy, but shortly after joining AR and posting like crazy, I began to text messages from a cell number in Nebraska - It went on for about 5 days straight. I must say that I am not a loon or anything - Just a normal gal - but this freaked me out - I would not doubt that there are freaks lerking around. This have stopped - thank goodness -

My take is that if someone does not show their face and show utilization of this wonderful tool, then they should be removed -
