I wasn't planning on writing a post tonight. However, I just finished reading Sheila Moran's post, Need some inspiration? Let me help. If you haven't read the post, go ahead and do so now. This can wait...

Great you're back...

Sheila quoted a great man, Theodore Roosevelt. Teddy has brought inspiration to Sheila and I do believe the words she shared will uplift all who read them.

But, my inspiration doesn't come from Teddy, but Richard.

You see, I am a huge fan of Richard Nixon - which is another post all by itself. I have collected Nixon memorabilia for over twenty years.

I do believe we can find inspiration from Nixon in these troubling times. If you go back in history, Nixon struggled, more than most, his entire life.

Here are a few of my favorites. I hope they inspire, sooth and maybe even provoke a new thought or two.

Enjoy!

Richard Nixon Nov 1973

"Defeat doesn't finish a man, quit does. A man is not finished when he's defeated. He's finished when he quits."

"If you take no risks, you will suffer no defeats. But if you take no risks, you win no victories."

Nixon VP House

"Never let your head hang down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way. And don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines."

"Never say no when a client asks for something, even if it is the moon. You can always try."

(Nixon's Washington DC home as VP)

And... my all time favorite... the quote I have posted for my inspiration:

"Only if you have been in the deepest valley,
can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain."

Richard Nixon (1913 - 1994)

You can always try-  I love that.  I was always told 'don't try- just do it'.  Nixon's quote makes trying sound worthwhile.  cw

Debbie,

I like this quote, "Defeat doesn't finish a man, quit does. A man is not finished when he's defeated. He's finished when he quits."  Don't stop or quit, keep on keeping on.

Thank you ma'am.

Debbie,

Congratulations on reaching the 100K milestone.  I just noticed your level and feel that you need to be acknowledged.

You know I studied many presidents for years in school, the class wrote many articles (today those would be called post) and the all time favorites were of NIxon. He was also the one we wrote the most about even ahead of Regan. Evryone agreed I think that he was the most misunderstood of all the presidents with the exception of possibly Lincoln.

Joyce - I couldn't agree more! Nixon really was misunderstood and in history, has turned out to be a very powerful president - in a good way! Thank you for sharing!

Cheryl, Deb and James- Thank you for stopping by. Powerful words from a powerful man. . . Good distinction Cheryl - do you try or do you just do it? I think so many kids today are not encouraged to even try, much less "just do it."

Don, my friend - THANK YOU! I have not been in the Rain much this week. I had not noticed I reached the 100K mark - knew I was close, but did not know I had reached that peak.
