Every realtor in Southern Nevada (Nye and Clark County) is being forced to trade in their lockboxes for newer electronic ones. The proposed swap has been postponed a few times, because the original swap was going to be 3 for 2. Having already paid $90 a piece for my lockboxes and owning four, I'm guessing that a lot of other realtors besides me thinks that swap stinks. The new ones are made by GE, the iBox system. They do have some pretty cool features, like compatibility with most handheld computers, programmable access hour settings, electronic notes feature and programmable electronic flyer all built in. Some cell phones may now also be used as your supra key. The new keyboxes are light blue and are slimmer than previous models.
So many members contacted the GLVAR board that a portion of the GLVAR's reserves are now being used to make up the difference. The exchange is now scheduled for the week of September 18th through the 21st. All swaps will be one for one.
I'm a little leary of upgrading because there are always bugs (usually). IF they work as promised they sound great. Has anyone upgraded to these new boxes?
