What a wonderful success story we have to share with you! Our homeowner contacted Stage a Star after being referred to us by their Realtor.  They had already been on the market for a year with no offers.  What made it even worse was that the homeowners were paying on 3 mortgages!

The House: This was a GREAT house with over 3000 sq.ft., a finished walkout basement with a full kitchen and on a gorgeous wooded lot in a quiet established neighborhood.  This was the perfect home for a family!

The Challenge:  The homeowner had left all of the existing furniture in the home so the problem wasn't an empty house.  The problem was the furniture.  A very dated 1980's look was in every room and awkward furniture arrangements made some important rooms confuse potential buyers in how to use the space.  The family room was a long great room with a beautiful new wetbar. The fireplace was offset so the way the furniture was arranged made this space very undesirable.  Feedback time and time again was the house was "too dated" and "too much work".

Staging Solution: Using most of the existing furniture and Stage a Star's extensive inventory of "decorative accessories",  we got right to work "updating" the look and feel of this home.   Using slipcovers, adding window treatments, and beautiful staging props transformed these rooms.  Creating a strategic furniture arrangement in the family room highlighted selling features such as the fireplace and wet bar and gave potential buyers the visual cues needed in HOW to use the space.

Success: SOLD! Once the house was staged, the homeowners relisted it as a new listing and it was under contract in just 7 days!! Staging made all the difference in getting this beautiful home sold quickly!

I will add that I took the "After" pictures instead of my professional photographer, Jenny so bare with me that the photo quality/angles don't look as good.

A special thank you to Teresa Mills-Schremm of Looking Fine by Redesign for your advice on the family room arrangement! Your input was right on!

Teresa, Great changes, no wonder it sold quickly. You showed the buyers what the home could be. Wonderful examples of staging. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Teresa: The homeowners did say they wished they'd done the staging sooner.  Thanks again with the furniture arrangement ideas in the family room.

Kathy: Good to see you! I knew the minute I walked into the house that it was fantastic...the furnishings were making it feel so dated.

Hey Kathy: Thanks for stopping by!  It was very satisifying to see how great the home showed once we added those updated accessories!

Kathy: Wow! 3 Kathy's in a row...LOL!  Thank you for the feature!

Donna: Hi! Yep...you're right. Staging will DEF. show buyers what the home could be. No one wants to buy an outdated looking house. Buyers just couldn't get past it until we showed them.

Great success story Teresa!  Removing the dated feel of the home made the difference!  Even if the buyers choose to complete updates they were able to see the possibilities through your staging.  Congrats on the quick sale!

Hi Michele: You're right! There was def. alot of updating to do in the house and you were right on with the "seeing the possibilites through staging".  I have staged many outdated homes with successful quick sales because of this.  Hmmmm...maybe I should collect my before/after photos and blog about this.....

Teresa I LOVE seeing before and afters showing the use of the clients furnishings!  So many b's and a's are of vacants and rental furnishings and that's just not reality in my area.  In three years I've only had 1 client that rented large furniture from me. Console tables, end tables and a few beds are about the extent of what I usually provide and I have to make the rest work.  Like you, I use a lot of slipcovers.

You did a fantastic job. Congratulations!  (You're photos really aren't that bad)

I'm with Ginger on this one.  I just had my third person in three years rent furniture.  What do we really do...encourage the fantastic use of their things, highlighting what they don't know to be special features of their homes (with our items), and making sure the house is happy, clean, and showable. Yes, we can do more, but this proves that stagers use principles of good design, their creativity and lots of love to transform any space.  Congratulations - it looks fantastic!

Teresa,  Nice updates in this home .... those slipcovers are hiding a world of hurt!  What a powerful testament to staging a property.  Congrats on the great statistics this will add to your portfolio!

Hi Ginger: Hey...good seeing you! You DEF. need to be more creative when working with what the homeowners already have!  What would we do without slipcovers? I don't even want to think about it..LOL!

Maggie: Well said! I couldn't agree with you more! Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Leslie: I was thrilled this sold quickly for them. They were strapped with 3 mortgage payments so the pressure was on!

Cathy: Always good to see you! Love sharing success stories...just wish more homeowners would give staging a try because it works!

Maureen: You're not kidding about those slipcovers hiding a world of hurt. 1980's sofas with the painter swishes...whew!  We slipcovered 4 of those babies!
