I am a big fan of single property websites. I love the idea of having that kind of space to stretch out and tell potential buyers all about a listing.

I also realize that creating a single property site has technological or financial limitations for some Listing Agents.

I have found a great alternative to the bona-fide single property site. Seth Godin has created a website called Squidoo. Squidoo is a great platform for people that know stuff, all kinds of stuff. This site allows people with knowledge to share their expertise with the world.

Squidoo, calls the individual pages you can create Lenses. Lenses do a great job of incorporating a wide range of social media types. You can incorporate, Flicker Photos, YouTube videos, Del.icio.us links etc…you get the idea. Oh, and here’s the good news, it’s all free!

This got my thinking, I know the homes we list and sell, so why not use Squidoo to tell the world? So I have created a lens for one of our listings. This lens incorporates images, video, descriptions and links…hmm, sound a little like a single property website!

That's cool I like postlets but squidoo is just another great site to help promote our listings. Thanks for sharing this site. I often wondered what it was about.

I have yet to try realbird, postlets, or squidoo for my listings.  Time for me to get on the ball and give these a shot.  I will take a look at your lens.  It sounds like a great concept.

Joe, interesting way to use Squidoo...Never thought of that!

Let me also suggest Townizen.com as a GREAT way to show off your listings in a beautiful and engaging way. It's a free listing platform, and you can include countless images and even embed video into the listing. The walkthrough feature allows you to step potential buyers through the house room by room. It's truly an awesome way to show off the listings you're really proud of...kinda like the single property idea you're talking about.

Go check it out...Townizen.com has a lot of other features, but it's the perfect supplement to the MLS to show off your listings in a more beautiful way!

Hi Joe - While I love the premise of using many portals (Trulia, Zillow, Google Base, Craigslist etc.) to "feature" a listing, I would challenge you to maybe use Squidoo and a lens in a more effective manner and still highlight a single property listing. I suggest you write instead about the entire neighborhood and showcase the listing as a great example of properties available there. That way you benefit on many more levels.

  • Search engines love Squidoo so I say maximize this portal and link the lens back to your website and even link keywords back to internal neighborhood pages (if you have them) on your website and blog. That way you will rank better for the neighborhoods you target in your area.
  • The likelihood a potential buyer will click on that single property lens and actually schedule a property showing is far less than someone who is looking for a specific area neighborhood so go with the numbers.

Let me know what you think of my idea.
