photo courtesy of zerobugAbout two years ago I had a client buy a new home and put a lot of her stuff in to a POD. What I didn't know was she put me as an emergency contact on the account.

On Wednesday, PODS called me saying they have been unable to reach my client and her POD was going to auction tomorrow unless they received $1900 before 9am the next day.

WOW! OK, time to make some phone calls. I call one of my friends who goes to these auctions all the time and he asks for the account number. If he could get it for under $1000 he would take the stuff and work out a payment schedule with my client or me.

GREAT! A $900 savings would be awesome. So, I call my past client and leave her a message with exactly what I am trying to do for her. But, no return phone call from her was received.

Now Thursday is over and the auction is over, so I call my friend and he says sorry I just couldn't help you, I was outbid. Dang it, how am I going to break this to my past client? I decided Monday I would personally go over and tell her as I couldn't just tell her in a voicemail that all her stuff now belongs to someone else.

Now, fast forward to Saturday when I get a call from my past client crying and I was thinking to myself, "Great she found out before I could talk to her myself". Turns out she was crying out of joy. Every one of her items had been delivered to her house with a note saying.

                                                                                            Merry Christmas

                                             Acct: Paid in Full

I call my auction friend and he claims he doesn't know what I'm talking about. But, he sure seems a lot jollier to me than he did. I guess I will never know, but to whom ever did the random act of kindness.

THANK YOU!

Jenn - It really brightened mine also, I know my friend is the one responsible, but proving it is the hard part!

John - I plan on it, but I would like to know if he is the one responsible or one of his buddies. He deserves a proper thanks, like a free trip to the coast on me!
