While recently checking out the latest news in home staging, I came across this article that appeared in the Rocky Mountain News. Bearing in mind that the article was written in 2006 when the housing market was still competitive, but not nearly as competitive as it is today in 2008.
The story and its findings are even more relevant today all across the country. There are a LOT of homes on the market and competition is high across all price ranges. Professional Home Staging can make a difference and more realtors are offering home staging as a service to their sellers. Consistent with today's prices, the article states that home stagers in Denver charge around '0.75 percent to 1.25 percent of the sales price...it will cost about $3,000 to stage a $300,000 house.'
One Denver home stager, Mary Beth Goodspeed, owner of Upstairs Downstairs Inc., is shown to have estimated that a third to 60 percent of the homes in the Denver area priced above $250k were being staged in 2006. That number is atleast the same in 2008, if not higher.
Stager Erica Starich of Star Interior Solutions said it is a small price to pay, especially in Denver's tough home-sales market. "It's cheaper than one price reduction," she said.
In the Colorado Springs area, home staging by Staged Right can give you an advantage over the competition at an affordable price.
