Wednesdays Real Estate thoughts...............

I have just began to read Shift by Gary Keller with Dave Jenks and Jay Papasan.  I haven't been able to get a lot read just yet, but I did come across something that caused me to stop and think.  He talkes about this being a great time to learn about the business and that once you know it is time to do, but more than that, he calls it focused action

I have thought about this and although I have thought that I was doing this, and managing or budgeting my time effectively.  I realized that the phrase focused action, is more than just working the business.  It is setting specific goals, and organizing your time in specific tasks to accomplish those goals.  It isn't just enough to make a goal of generating 5 or 10 new leads during a time period, it is setting down and saying to yourself, my goal is 10 new, qualified leads a week.  I have failed each day that I work if I don't generate 2 of those leads each day. (assuming a 5 day work week, I used a simple example, you could use more or fewer numbers.)

I have come to the conclusion that it also means that if lead generation is your primary goal, it needs to be done first then move on to your prioritized list of goals and work on each in succeeding order.  I have not read the entire book, just the first few pages and I can't wait to learn and do.  Have a Great Week!

"To do this, you must subscribe to one simple belief: dealing with business never takes precedence over finding business. Never. You must adopt the position that until your lead generation is done every day, nothing else should get done." -- Page 73 of Shift

If you follow this concept, your ONLY DAILY goal is to obtain two leads. If it takes 2 hours, great! You will get the opportunity to focus on other professional and personal goals.

If it takes 12, so be it! Good luck with your real estate career pursuits!
