What you hear on the media loud and clear is lots of bad doom and gloom. Dr. Doom has come to do his mighty negative action waves upon humankind. The question is; Are you going to take his medicine and become a part of the problem or are you going to be proactive and develop your own economic destiny?
When bad times befall you and cause you to fall down- go ahead and fall, while you are down there, get a mop and clean the floor, then get back up and become proactive in your actions to put your life back together. Sitting around having pity parties will only create more bad energy and guess what, no one shows up for your pity party!
Is it possible to move your life and your economics into a positive direction of happiness and joy?
Remember this very important point- no matter what those around you think or think they know, judge or try to keep up with the Jones; your worth is NOT about what your material possessions are. It is NOT about the car you drive or the house you live in, it is not about the stuff that clutters your shelves or the clothes you buy. That is the great thing about money- you can always replace it. You can always make more. There is always more than enough for everyone.
You have more control over your economic reality than you think you do. You can steer your life towards success and happiness.
The most important step you can take in that direction is to be thankful for your many blessings. Spend the first 15 minutes when you wake up in the morning and the last 15 minutes before you go to sleep at night, recalling your blessings and writing in your gratitude journal all that you are thankful for. This one thing will change your life if you do it with sincerity. I promise you that it will change your life. I KNOW it will change your life. It changed my life.
One of my coaches, (yes, I have coaches) has a client who had been a very successful business person who was working for corporate America. He lost his job due to outsourcing. This couple began to experience very negative financial hardships. They maxed out their credit cards and their home was going into foreclosure. The picture they were looking at was quite bleak. The news was only making their thinking more stinking. They entered into a downward spiral very quickly.
When my coach was going over their situation with them she suggested instead of looking at what they were losing and what they did not have to look rather at what they did have and make a written inventory of what they had. It was discovered that they owned 3 cars that were free and clear, they owned a small cabin on a lake up in the mountains that did not have a mortgage on it and they had close to $2000 in cash.
After going over all of what they did have and with an attitude of gratitude they put a new life plan into action. They sold 2 of the vehicles, sold most of their 'stuff' in garage sales and on ebay, and moved to the cabin. There they fixed up the cabin and opened up a bring your own boat campground which created a profit in their first year in business. They were happy.
In fact, everything happens for a reason. It is just that we fail to see the reasons and want to hang on to what was or what we no longer have. Losing his job with long stressfull days working for Corporate America was a blessing in disguise. He first looked at this as a economic downward spiral instead of what it really was, a ticket to freedom and happiness of owning their own business and having fun along with it.
So if you are struggling financially take the time to sit down and really think about what you are grateful for and take stock in writing down what you really do have. Then give thanks for your many blessings and for what is right in your life. Turn off the news! Open your eyes to where your life may be taking you! You may just be pleasantly surprised!
