In August 2008 I took a trip to California.  It was a blast!  I stayed for over a week and visited many places.  One that sticks out in my mind was San Francisco.  I love the TV show Monk and it is filmed there.  That is not the only reason, however.  I saw the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and spent time at Fisherman's Warf.  It being August, I expected a warm summer day.  That was not the case.  The sunshine winked at me from time to time but it was windy, cold, and wet.  Oh, did I mention the fog?  No, well there was plenty of it.  I still had a great time and would love to do it again.  (Dressed more appropriately for the weather).

Driving on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Alcatraz!

Look out from the Golden Gate Bridge!

I had a drink on the second level with Manny!  (I didn't forget about you).

I really like this sign!

Mel, When I lived in Sacramento, I could spend the weekend in San Francisco, Monterrey, Carmel, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley.......that is the part of living in CA that I miss (and of course the great friends I made while I lived there in the 80's)

Richard- Tuesday night I was walking my 118lbs dog.  He saw another dog, yadda yadda yadda, I landed on my back REALLY HARD!  It didn't bother me until last night so I was drugged and in bed by 8.  (And that concludes the lesson on how you build a clock).

AH!  San Francisco.  Loved it.  It was some years ago when I spend a week in CA with a friend and we drove the Coast Highway to San Francisco from LA.  What a spectacular drive.  Then, San Francisco, the bridge and the beauty.

The highlights were The Embarcadero, The Chocolate Factory, Fisherman's Wharf, The Crookedest Street, and so much more.

Love MONK too.

Mel - I wish you would have let us know beforehand. I could have given you a list of some great restaurants that mostly the locals go to and are off of the main tourist paths. San Francisco was my favorite city to work in, spen 8 years there. Great eye candy and thanks for the memories.

Well, that is one place I have not been. I would prefer going to the mountains and northern foothills. Good to hear you enjoyed yourself enough to go back!

Hi Melody,

San Francisco is Fun!  I haven't been there since NAR a few years ago.  I always tell people to get to Alcatraz.  I wouldn't have gone except a friend recommended it to me and it was a GREAT tour.

All the best!

I remember my first trip to the west coast.  It was June 2002.  I packed shorts and flip flops thinking... Sunny California.  I froze my tail off.  It's a good thing that my at the time future MIL had some warm clothes I could borrow.
