Twitter: What are you doing?

I have been using a service called Twitter for a few months now, and more and more of my friends are asking what it's all about. There have been a few posts on here about the program, but in case you've missed them, here's my best explanation.

 As blogging popularity continues to grow, so do other blogging "type" services. Twitter is a microblog that tells people what you're doing. It has really started to catch on, even though the most popular reaction is: "What's the point?" 

You can access Twitter in many ways. I use it primarily on my cell (text messages) and on my Mac with twitterriffic.  When I am doing something, I twitter (is that a verb?) it. When my friends are doing something, they do the same. We all sort of know what we're doing at any given time. It's easy to turn on or off, and very addictive.
