Okay, so I got to thinking today. Yes, it does happen. Rarely, but it happens none the less. Do any of you have music on your Homepage? If you do, what Genre? I am a music girl at heart and I love all music. I am an 80's child therefore I LOVE 80's hair bands! Give me Poison anyday...lol

Okay, the point to this Blog, DO you have music running on your site? If you do, do you worry that some of your visitors will be inclined to not revisit because of your Music?

For instance, If someone who likes Jazz visits your site and you are a hard rock kind of person and you have Ozzy Osbourne on your site, do you think it will keep some people from returning?

I once worked on a local Builders website and he wanted Music in the background. He liked the Cheers theme until he heard the midi of it on his site and then he HATED it.

I have heard several people that are majorly supportive if football had "Sweet home alabama" playing on their site. I love that song but I know some people that would maybe have been offended if they heard it playing.

SO......The question is, DO YOU or Do you just leave it silent??

FYI - I do not have music on my site but if I ever decided to put music, I would definitely have something that is very American like Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA.

Okay, if you think this Blog is just a bunch of nonsense put together and it makes no difference to you, Tell me, I can take it...hehe

I don't have it but I think it's great to try it...

You can always take it off.

Please remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC".

Keep in mind that a lot of people that may come to your website may be in an office.  When I worked in the corporate world, I sometimes had a few minutes to check out various websites, if I landed on a site that had music or someone talking to you, I quickly clicked off so I did not disturb others in the office.  I realize that I could just turn my speakers off, but there were times when I needed to visit a training site and needed to hear what was said.

Monica, your homepage is your space to tell us who you are.  While you're offering personal information about yourself, why couldn't you include a tidbit of the music you like?  It's just another medium to describe yourself.  And no one should judge you based on what you listen to.  On the otherhand, if this is a business site, or where you're posting listings and trying to draw in as many prospects as possible, I'd say leave out the jazz or rock.

Good Day All,

I have had it both ways on my site.  I generally do not have any video or audio on my site unless it is very informative and pertinent.  Bottom line is, it just slows down loading too much.

Not everyone's machines or connections are as fast as mine and I want to provide a pleasant experience w/o the frustration of useless downloads.

That's my two cents.

Monica,

I don't have music on MINE, but if you do that's fine...I've heard all kinds...sometimes it's funny because someone will have such a professional page and then the crazy hard rock music starts playing! It's kind of funny if you're in an office when it starts playing out of no where b/c they are wondering what you're viewing...and then of course you have to show them...talk about making your site for you huh? It's an attention getter!

Hi Monica, I have music on my web site, and the hard part is not so much as per say music but easy listening melodies that the masses would like. I was considering putting music on my blog here, but after hearing many members complaining I decided not to, it to distracting.

One can use music, but with no singing, instrumental only. Good Luck

Everyone starts on the next fad....and then people get sick of it.  Music drives people nuts.  Having your video on the page drives people nuts.  Keep it simple folks.   This buiness is not rocket science.  All you have to do is go out and say hi to a few folks.  3-4% of your sales will come from your database of your sphere.  That is a proven reality.  So who gives a poop about music.  I care about my database.  Play music and have 100 people in your database and you are out of business.  It is that simple.

One of my websites www.DavidSlavin.com has music on it but the visitor can easily turn it off if they don't like it.

The first thing I do when I hit a website with music on their home page is leave, but that's just me.
