What the Hell Does Joe Biden Mean "Gird Your Loins"? This Really Frightens Me

I don't know about you, but when a vice presidential candidate makes a detailed prediction about some catastrophe that is going to happen in the next six months, I want to ask him some follow up questions. Biden says:

"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack...Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate. And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

"Gird your loins. We're gonna win with your help, God willing, we're gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride. This president, the next president, is gonna be left with the most significant task. It's like cleaning the Augean stables, man. This is more than just, this is more than - think about it, literally, think about it - this is more than just a capital crisis, this is more than just markets. This is a systemic problem we have with this economy."

  • What does he know?  He does have access to all of the secret foreign intelligence information.
  • What is he suggesting about the systemic problem with the economy?
  • What specific actions will they take that won't initially appear to be right?

I am really shocked and frightened by his words.  How can someone say such things and not be forced to explain in more detail?  Is this housing bailout just the tip of the iceberg of what we can expect in the future?  Will we have to implement a new monetary system?  Will there be martial law?

I just can't make sense out of this.  This isn't just some slip of the tongue.  This isn't some pie in the sky talk.  It sounds like someone who has detailed knowlege of a secret plan.  It reminds me of how my nine year old son tries to keep a secret but has to begin dropping little hints to others.

Maybe I'm a nut job reading too much into it.  Maybe Joe Biden is a nut job who is trying to scare people.  Or maybe Joe Biden has loose lips and just can't keep a secret.

Update:

A local Orlando Florida newscaster actually had the nerve to ask Joe Biden some tough questions.  She asked him about his remarks about Obama being tested in 6 months.  Biden twisted around his words and said he said something different.  For asking these questions, the Obama campaign has now cut off this station's access to anymore interviews with them.  Here's the video.

I think Biden's about half full of it.  But, I know he could say the same about me.  I think it's a world situation.  We've got to get back to some common sense.

Our choices this election period are so out of whack. I don't even know if there are parties anymore. I think they are just labels. They are all on the same side if you ask me

Tim with all the gaffes Joe Bidden makes I am starting to wonder if deep down he knows that Obama is not right for the job and is not experienced enough. These seem like he is trying to off handedly scaring people away from voting for Barack Hussien Obama.

Tim.

You should have been frieghtened eight years ago when Bush was running for office.  Oh I forgot!  That's how Bush won his second term, by scaring the hell out of the public on his message of terrorism.

I live one mile from the Pentagon.  After 911 there was stringent security detail around the Pentagon, the Capital and the White House.  TWO WEEKS after Bush won his second term all that security detail went away and never came back.  IT WAS ALL BASED ON FEAR!  KEEP THE PEOPLE AFRAID.

If you had any good sense you'd vote OBAMA/BIDEN.

Truth, Excellence and a Good Deal
Thanks for the comments. Sally and David, I don't think I'm really making a strong political view. I'm just asking for some kind of explanation. How can you let something like that slide away without getting more details of exactly what he means? I really don't care who wins this election. McCain is just as bad as Obama. It makes me sick that we really don't have much of a choice. Sherri, I totally agree with you about how fear is used by politicians. I find that the best way to get over fear is to confront it head on. That's why I want more details of what Biden means. If he knows something bad is going to happen, come out and say it and let us deal with it. They used fear to get the bailout passed. I wanted to know the details of all the bad things that were about to happen if the bailout wasn't passed. I like to be treated like an adult. I really can handle the truth. I'm actually hoping that Obama wins. I'm hoping the Democrats take total control and run this country into the ground. Then at least we can have a chance at rebuilding the country again based on the Constitution and the concept of freedom and limited government. My good sense tells me that both parties are corrupt. We need to clean house so that's why I'm voting for third party candidates for every office. None of them will win but at least I feel that it is my little insignificant way of sending a message that I'm not happy with what's going on. You have to start somewhere. I'd actually love to run for some kind of office but my wife says she would divorce me if I did.

Hi Tim.

Well, I guess you haven't been reading very much lately.  Because the way I see it -the Republicans have already run this country into the ground and then some.

 TAKE NOTE:

1.) Our national deficit is the highest it’s ever been $10,502,445,084,041.27.  No, this is not an illusion – it is $10 trillion and it increases everyday at an average of about $4B. Yes, that’s $34,000+ per person in the US. That’s what we owe! (Oh please bring back the Clinton days when we had a surplus!)

2.) We are in two wars:  One of which is a defunct war (Iraq) that is costing us an estimated $12B or more a month.  Not to mention, our wonderful men and women in uniform who serves this country with the highest price of all - their life.

Death total to date: 4,000+

Wounded:  100,000+   Although, the Bush administration says 30,000 but we all know that’s a lie.

Military Suicides:  about 18 per day (No one ever talks about this).

3.) Unemployment has risen to 11% highest in 14 years.

159,000 jobs lost in the month of September.

760,000 jobs lost this year so far

4.) The big bank bust and bail out.

5.) Let’s not talk about foreign policy or how our allies view us right now.  We can just play it safe and say- we’re not very popular at this time.

“Where ignorance is bliss - Tis folly to be wise”. - Thomas Gray

This is the age of information and there is no reason to be ignorant of your surroundings. Also, for you to wish ill upon the American people, so you can feel justified by your political choices, tells me everything I need to know about you and your sick state of mind.  There are people who are really suffering in this country from loss of jobs, retirement, health care, and their homes and you wish the American people more of the same or worse?  Your ignorance is astounding..
