What Me Worry? I'm Going To Have A Great Day! Let's Do That Together in the Rain.

The DOW futures are down the limit before the open--more than six percent.
General Motors is saying that bankruptcy is not an option for that venerable company. Right!
The Wall Street Journal is predicting a bloodbath in the markets.

I won't let it matter in the course of my day! Okay, call me a Pollyanna, but I'm telling you that the most important thing in my life this morning is my mindset!

We choose to act or react.
Choose to act today.
We choose to be optimistic or pessimistic.
Choose to be optimistic.
We choose the things we think about.
Focus your mind on things you can DO today.
We choose those with whom we will interact today.
Seek out people who share your optimism.

Share your optimistic choices of action with your clients and customers. They're tired of talking to people who moan and groan. Your choices will make you attractive to your customers.

I'll be careful to monitor what comes out of my mouth today. You do the same. Words are previews of things to come.

Well. I should be driving to the bank and post office. However, I'm glued to CNBC.

I'm positive and optimistic, but only because it's in my genes.

A bad attitude never changed anything for the better, anyway! If we have control to change something, then we need to do so, otherwise, why waste time worrying about things we cannot control? We just make ourselves and those around us unhappy, which gets us nowhere. A positive attitude is, indeed, infectious. Thanks for the great reminder.

Mike - i don't worry about the stock market anymore. i'm a tech guy from way back. That means i lost all of my money in 2001 in the big bubble.

Mike - I tend to take "the glass is half full" approach to life. I was a member of our local Optimist Club for years and enjoyed the forward thinking of those I associated with. I agree with the obove comment "nothing good ever comes from a negative attitude" (paraphrased a bit).

It is hard to be positive, but we need to be. I know in my heart things will get better and thery always do but my mind is a defferent story.

Thanks for your uplifting words. I too am an optimist, but also a realist. Sometimes it is difficult to be both, but there is always the sun and the mountains. There is always something to be grateful for. Have a grateful day.

It can be difficult even as an optimist to not get into a rut of "what the heck?" But you are so right and surrounding yourself with positive people and making the choice to be positive can influence not only your day but others around you as well!

Mike - I tend to be optomistic most of the time too. I hope it doesn't account for my not parking my 401K money in cash, instead of the mutual funds I have continued to hunker down with :-)

Mike - I am a firm believer in being positive. And you have to focus on the positive - in fact I heard some very positive numbers this morning on the stock channel regarding the housing market.

Mike - we are going to sell a million dollar house :) - how's that for positivity LOL. (actually just submitted the offer, keeping fingers crossed) ~Rita

Magnificent advice and a good reminder for us all to stay optimistic and be spreaders of happy feelings, not doom and gloom. I know it's tough, with the way things are going in the world today, however, it's still a beautiful world.

This just showed up in my google alert now... very timely... I just had a purchase die because my buyer got a message from a higher source that said not to buy now...

Mike, like Alfred E. Newman says...What, me worry? It is all about attitude and that's the only thing we have any control over so my choice is to just smile and get back to work! Or play if the opportunity presents itself!

No reason to worry............just keep plugging away. Stay postive and we will have a better day and a brighter future. My life is not dictated by the spin media or stocks.

I wish they would teach Positive Attitude in high school!!!

Some years back I saw a speaker with Winning Minds. His name was Matt De La Cruz. He actually opened for Tom Hopkins but Matt was phenomenal as a speaker of attitude. I remember sitting there thinking, every high school kid needs to hear this.

I am an eternal optimist-my husband is a pessimist. What a match . . .lol

Mike, sometimes when I look around me at what is going on...what sustains me is my Christianity. It's not a banner or anything,,,but I look around at the craziness and say to myself, "I'm leaving here some day." and it sure puts things in perspective. Great Post!

I have to keep a constant watch on my mouth and my thoughts. With all that is going on right now shouldnt we all?

Reminds me of a song from my childhood...

"It'll come back"

Two people were faced with the same task: take a large mound of assorted junk, rocks, tree trimmings and other assorted detritus and a large hole. Do something with all.

One of them started out by complaining what a meaningless task it was, venting about how beneath his capabilities it was and that any trained monkey could fill the hole with the refuse.

The other person took a little while to study the pile in front of him and began to sort through it.

By the end of the day, the first person had taken his pile and put it all in the hole, leaving about 3 feet or so to completely fill it in. He continued to gripe and moan about his wasted day.

The second person had worked steadily all day long, seeming to enjoy himself as he constructed a crude but effective bridge across the hole...complete with handrails, a cover to block the sun and decorated with odds & ends of different things arranged in pleasing combinations.

Taking a moment to savor one last glance at the day's work, he turned to his companion in toil and said, "why don't we go have a beer to celebrate?"

"Are you crazy? Celebrate what?" stormed the first man.

"Lets celebrate the fact that there weren't 3 piles and 3 holes--I'll buy the first round!"

It isn't the task that makes the person...it is the approach & the attitude that makes the difference!

Hey Mike!

Whatever it is that we focus on in life... this will be our reality.

I agree with you! Instead of being fearful or afraid of what's happening in Washington or on Wall St., we should all try to focus on what we can control HERE and NOW in our own lives.

I'm always positive but have to admit that I'm wondering if I am TOOOOO positive. Working on new avenues and not caring if I have to move into an RV to follow my passions!

That describes what I think of as an ideal working style ... Instead of trying to "visualize" bad stuff away ... try to understand the what and the how and the why of the bad stuff so it can be turned into opportunity and advantage....

Me too! The loans I'm closing are for short sale purchases right now. It's not what we would have wished for, but it's opportunity on every side. The buyers are happy to afford the home, and the sellers are glad to get out from under.
