Now that you're done laughing... are you done yet?

I'm concerned for our country and this upcoming election.

A blog by Fran the other day really got me on my knees and praying for our nation to not follow the past mistakes we have made...

 Proverbs 26:11
As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.

Our country has a history of blaming the one in the White House when things have gone wrong in our financial houses. They have always turned to style instead of practical function. Most times we have erred on the side of quick reaction and justification instead of a more painful longer lasting remedy.

With that said, and knowing that an eagle needs both his right and left wings to fly straight... to have a totally left congress and a totally left White House will bring us into uneven flight, quite possibly a deathspin that we won't be able to ever escape and we better be prepared.

Although being a registered Republican, I lean to the left on many issues. I think we are much more alike than people think. I am very concerned about many things the Democrats fight for. I just don't agree with the way they want to bring them about. Helping the poor, the environment are not foreign to Republicans... but sometimes when they are discussing these things in Washington, you'd think we were against them. Socialism is not the answer and more regulation that we can't possibly police is not either. We have a management problem. It's that simple. We need managers in office not more lawyers. (Analysts show that 1/10 of the money allocated to help people actually go to the people, management expense takes 9/10ths) We need people who want to find solutions that work for all of us, not just some of us. I'm talking about the lobbyists and all the cronies in DC that have their ears ... with their pocketbooks.

These are just some reasons I've decided to put my support of Obama aside and pull the lever for McCain. I think "Joe the Plumber" did me in... WE ARE Joe the Plumber... except I already own a business and I am being squeezed as all of us "independent contractors" are. We are small business and we will get squeezed even more with the Democrats having free run of the place! I was almost fooled by the style of Obama, but I have seen through the smoke screens now and know without a shadow of a doubt that Obama is God's discipline, I opt and pray for His mercy instead. Please vote life!

I respect your opinion, although I must disagree. Unfortunately, Chuck votes go against McCain and for Obama. So you will be voting for Obama whether you want to or not. I do agree with your cry for help, God help us. Thanks for commenting.

To vote is important first and foremost. However to vote using the Joe the Plumber story as your reason is for supporting McCain leaves me bewildered.

You know of course that the entire Joe the Plumber story has been debunked. None of the facts in the story were true at all.

Did you watch the entire Joe the Plumber interview or just the short sound clips of excerpts from the entire exchange? I reccomend you do so.

In terms of the concept of Joe the Plumber and McCains insistance that Joe would be taxed is completely non-factual.

Small businesses of all types do not grow and prosper from tax breaks. They grow and prosper when people have money to buy things.

By providing tax breaks to the middle class and fostering a environment where businesses can grow and prosper you put money in the jeans of the workers who then spend in small businesses.

Plain and simple. That is Obama's plan. McCain has none other than to continue the tax cust for the wealthy. This will not put money in the Middle Class pockets and will not create any jobs. McCain has said it many times " My friends, those jobs are gone and wont be coming back"

Are you kidding me? As American's, have we stopped using Washing Machines? Those jobs are gone because the unfair trade practices that McCain Supports. Where companies are allowed to bring in products to our country with a 2.1% tarrif and we pay a 20% tarrif in thier country and in some cases are not allowed to ship products there at all.

I am sorry but there is just NO Good reason at all to vote for McCain.

In terms of your argument for balance between congress and the presidency. This system is so far out of whack with the two parties drawing lines up between them and fighting over idealism rather than looking out for OUR needs. I think we need to give Obama his chance at change. He is the only candidate that has made that consistant argument. Give him a chance we already know what it is like to be devided.

Herb: Respectfully I had not heard anything about "Joe". I have not seen any interviews, I have not seen any spin. I heard one comment from your candidate... "I want to spread the wealth around." directed to Joe. That is the heart of the matter. I don't watch news and I try to avoid hearing most of it. Tax breaks are not the entire answer either. Total tax code simplification is. Again, I think you are being misled by the emotions that have been generated. But I will defend until the bitter end your rights to make your points and will not edit or disallow your comments. I am preparing myself for the what's to come in case we have to let Obama "try" his best... and my doors will be open to help all I can when that day comes.

I didn't go into all the details of my decision but you make me feel I need to add one more When the candidate Obama said, "If my daughter were to make a mistake, I don't want her punished by having a baby." Paraphrased... again, I get snippets from other people... correct me if he didn't say those words. In my heart, it sounds like condoning God-like behavior in making the decision to stop a beating heart. Although I'm to be an imitator of God, I cannot side with making God-like decisions. Roe V Wade is a curse on our society and we will pay the price for it at sometime. Palin and simple is more McCain's plan and I have to go with it!

I am not offended by your assertions. God bless you and hang on, it's going to be a bumpy night! I just want to be one of the virgins who had oil first so I'm prepared for the groom when he arrives.

I certainly hope that you did not take offense to any of my comments. I may be an impassioned writer, but I never lash out.

The interview that I mention was the entire discussion in its raw form between Obama and Joe the Plumber. When listened to in its entirety it is obvious that Joe would be better off under Obama.

My long comment is meant more as a critique of the media and its use of sound bites like your example givent above " I heard one comment from your candidate... "I want to spread the wealth around."" and or the following "If my daughter were to make a mistake, I don't want her punished by having a baby." Paraphrased... again, I get snippets from other people... "

In regards to Tax Code Simplication you are right on. It is one of the principal core values of the Obama campaign.

I do listen to a lot of Political news as well as read a lot of Political Blogs and talk to a great deal of people including here to help form my own views. One of the great sources of information are the Candidates own Web Sites where they lay out there goals. Once cadidate has sound bites ( McCain ) the other has Details ( Obama).

And I as well believe in each persons rights to there oppinon. I only hope that as those oppinons are formed that ther are formed with more than just a couple of sound bites.
