Who is your tomato?

Eggs or tomatos

We all know the rules right? Don't put the tomatoes on the bottom of the basket, well on this day I entered the grashrie store like I always do from the produce side and started filling up my basket.

Then I notice as I looked down and saw that my poor vine ripened tomatoes where all the way at the bottom of basket and my eggs where sitting fat and sassy on top.

This got me thinking about how we have people in our lives like our family members (tomatoes) that we see first in our day and they seem happy to run in our baskets through the grocery store of our life, and some even though we know the tomatoes need extra care we still put thing like our eggs (our clients) above them.

You might say that the eggs need more of your attention and can seem just as delicate and fragile and so they deserve the top just as much as the tomatoes. We justify this by saying to ourselves that it's just until check out. This is because after the check out the tomatoes get our full love and attention and we put them on our window sill to be admired and enjoyed.

But what about that trip the tomatoes took on the bottom of the basket? What bruises did they get while riding at the bottom? Or even worse, you could have a break in a delicate vine of one of your precious tomatoes. Was it worth not shifting a few things around during your trip to keep from anything happening to your tomatoes. I say that we should always take a minute and shift our basket to make sure our tomatoes are on top along with our eggs.

What a great illustration and reminder to take better care of our tomatoes, whatever they may be to each of us.

Sandy,

In life we have to "clarify values"...values guide our actions. Values can be a principal, a standard, or a quality we desire...Sometimes these values are in conflict with one another such as work vs family...we all believe we should be at work on time and dedicate ourselves to being a successful professional and answer all our clients' phone calls...by the same token we may also believe that it's equally important to not leave the house until the kitchen is clean! Did our children eat a nutritious breakfast before they left the house this morning? Did you sign that permission slip? Are you going to be able to make it to their field trip? LOL

Modifying or prioritizing our values can be one way of easing our daily strain. And I believe you CAN find a "balance" for the two...so I say "PUT THOSE TOMATOES ALONGSIDE THE EGGS, GOSH DARN IT!" LOL

Hi Sandy,

You are my special tomato all the way on top! Don't forget we are the ones putting things in to the basket so we should be the ones in charge. Have a happy Friday!

One of my little tomatoes actually helped me edit this blog.  So sometimes it's about working them into the mix of the day.

Thank you everyone for the comments: ))
