In this tough times the bad guys who make/take money from good folks will be working overtime to some of our money. Perfect timing for a easy to understand view of just one of the scams on the Internet.
Great info on where to report them... I always feel inadequate in just deleting them.
On another note, our id was stolen in a smash and grab a few years ago. The police won't do anything, we tracked down the person who was receiving all kinds of new credit cards in our name. They were just kids, the police didn't do anything, but we found out a few things of importance.
1. Never keep your S.S. card in your wallet, on your person or anywhere easily had.
2. Reporting it immediately to your credit card fraud alert department absolves you from any responsiblity. (We had some menacing calls stating it was our responsiblity, it wasn't, they were wrong and trying to retrieve money they knew was lost) The latest credit crunch may have helped in the ease of obtaining cards now.
And on the comical side, I get a laugh out of some of the more amature ones with really bad spelling errors... like the one in the vid...Deer Mr.... LOL. Most people in those positions have a good education.
