Portsmouth NH Homes Ready For Halloween!

Portsmouth NH homes are getting ready for all the ghosts and goblins and tricks and treats coming up over the next few days! All over town, I see homes festively decorated for the Halloween fun.

Halloween is upon us, and with that comes all kinds of ghostly fun around the Portsmouth New Hampshire Seacoast area. Parades, parties, gatherings, and most importantly, all that fun trick-or-treating.

The 14th Annual Halloween Parade in Portsmouth is Friday, October 31st. The parade festivities start at 7pm at the parking lot on the Mill Pond. The parade route winds its way through downtown Portsmouth and then back to the Mill Pond area. All are welcome to dress up and take part in the parade. Hi Ann - cool pumpkins! I have to admit, I was never that creative with one! I hope all the little ones are safe this year. My street is very decorated!

Hi Linda - we have some really great decorations around town this year, more than in past years. And those homeowners really went all out, too.

I've tried to be that creative with pumpkins in the past - they never looked anything like what I had in mind. As a matter of fact, they never looked like anything anyone had ever seen before....

I think this year my daughter is too old for decorations...she just wants the candy so I'll sit outside like I do every year with the bucket and serve...she'll be collecting the neighbors candy. Pumpkins are not the best thing to leave outside too long or they will be eaten by the gremlins who come to my house and the heat shrivels them...we did in the past...have lots of decorations out...I'm not the best carver anyway but we did see a few funny looking ones.

Hey Ann hows it going? Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love to dress up! Sounds like there is a lot going on up in Portsmouth...have a great time!

I always get major hits on my Halloween posts. I had to go back into last years Halloween posts and clearly note that it was 2007 schedule and to click here for 2008.

Ann, Monika did a nice post on Halloween, maybe you can get together with her and Jay and go dressed as Red Sox fans. Now that would be scary costumes ........... LOL

Hi Neal - you sound like you just really would rather be doing something other than just sitting and serving! We can leave our pumpkins out for awhile up here - crisp cool air keeps them looking just peachy for a bit longer. ;-)

Ann, what a great idea to have times for trick or treating. It's just an open schedule here in Sacramento but I like the idea of having times posted for trick-or-treating especially coming from the best Realtor in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Ann Cummings.

Ann, I love Halloween and Portsmouth is the place to be for this holiday. If you haven't visited Middle Road yet, it is not to be missed. I'm off to the parade tonight and then to Haunted Overload in Lee. We went last year and it was awesome. I love the new picture, by the way!

hi Ann... seeing this post makes me wish I was 10 years old again going from house to house, loading up on candy, going home to change costumes and repeat the process. yes, I love candy!!! ;-)

Thanks for sharing that greeting video. I do wish more people decorated for Halloween. I know many folks who decorate inside, but not outside. I'd love to do it myself, but we have no kids in our neighborhood. Maybe when the market gets better I'll do it anyway.

Happy Halloween, Ann! It's funny how traditions vary from place to place - I've never heard of a schedule for trick or treating before, but it makes sense. Hope the ghosts and goblins in Portsmouth have an excellent night.

Hi Marti - you went home, changed costumes and went back out? I wish my sisters and I had thought of that when we were younger! We did used to go back to the houses that had the really good stuff though.... ;-)

Hi Susan - you should see all the houses that decorate around here. Each year, we have more and more, and this year has some really clever and very creative decorations. I wouldn't be surprised if they started up a Halloween Decorating Contest, much like the Christmas Decorating Contest we have here each year.

Hi Lisa - another area that doesn't have set times for trick or treating! Do you end up with trick or treaters late at night with no set times? I think we had plenty of little ghosts and goblins having a great time here!

Ann, I was surprised that the trick-or-treaters this year were very courteous and considerate with it being on Friday. I thought that the doorbell would be ringing into the night, here in Sacramento but it was all over by 8:00.

I do so love all the little ones and their costumes. Hope you had a Happy Halloween, too!

This year was our warmest year since we have been in Vegas (a little over 10 years!) We had a mountain of trick or treaters and fun. Hope you did as well!

Katerina - a friend made those especially for me not that long ago. I'm not sure how she'd feel about someone else changing them up and using them. Glad you like them!

Gena - glad you had great trick or treaters stop by. It is always fun to see how the costumes and how clever they look.

Renee - glad you like the new picture, I've gotten a lot of comments about it. I wouldn't mind a little warmer Halloween, that would have been nice for everyone out that night.
