Traditional Media vs. Blogging

I was listening to National Public Radio and there was an interesting discussion about how traditional Sports media is threatened by the BLOG world.  The broadcast was title:  "ESPN Apologies for Radio Host's Attack on BLOG"

Sound familiar folks? Listening to the broadcast I was struck by the changes in the media and how we as human beings process such information.  And the impact of it. Blogging is immediate, traditional media has lag time.

Traditional Media outlets are loosing their audiences daily to BLOGS and they are threatened.

But it isn't just Don Imus that is getting into trouble with what he says, it is other hosts too...

Read more about this attack, listen to the NPR broadcast and my thoughts on the subject at Celebration Florida Homes.

Colleen, How is the Sports media threatened? I think guys will take the current reporting with the excitement and commentary etc. any-day over a blog.

Colleen, I think there will be a place for both blogs and media, because they both serve a purpose.  Much like fax machines have not replaced the Post Office.

But I do think that the use of blogs will keep the news media more on their toes and probably make them better as a result of that.

Colleen... interesting outlook which I haven't paid attention to as of yet. But I agree with Danny's comment. I am a huge sports fan, of most sports. If I need to know something, I go to cbssportsline.com for any info or updates before I would read a blog.

I agree.... it's great advertising and might be for other related news topics. But I don't think sports will ever be taken over by blogs. Either you go to the game, listen to it on the radio (XM) who has baseball....  cable...you can usually buy games for this.... and then I go to the paper and for the next quickest update, cbssportsline.com

I do like Laurie, Margaret, and George's comments. This will be interesting in another year though, as this catches on.

Jeff -- be honest did you listen to the broadcast?   Do you understand that the athletes are the new bloggers?  That they are releasing their thoughts and going directly to the public?   Yes you can go to the traditional media for the stats, but there is a bigger picture here.

ps..  I deleted your comment and reposted in mine because I consider your logo SPAM.
