No? Then you are losing a lot of business. rottenapple2copia.gif rotten apple image by seximamiruckazEDITED ... QUOTE BY BARBARA HERSHEY; "So let them be rotten apples...they'll fall off the tree soon enough!"

Yes? Then you are a wise person.

We have all experienced the Agent with an attitude...

What good does this do anyone?

Does it help the client?

Does it encourage a deal?

Does it build a good relationship?

Does it create a strong sphere within your "professional" relm?

Could you have made contracts work if you had not run across the bad attitude?

It just seems to me that we should all support one another, work with an agreeable attitude, give more than we get and it should all come back to us in the end.

Have you delt with an Agent with a bad attitude? Did the deal work? How many years did it take off your life? Was it worth it?

Will you deal with them again?

A bad apple can ruin our whole bunch. Later in the rain~Deb

More good attitude. We can't get enough in times like this. Good Job!

Hi Debra

It's all about attitude. I often wonder why people just can't simply kill someone with kindness; it goes pretty far, and the reciprocal actions are nothing but pleasant.

Sincerely

Tom Braatz

Hi Debra,

I can't remember if I ever ran into one of those agents.  I have been blessed not to have to deal with someone like that.  You are right, what do they get out of being rude, meanspirited, etc?

Hi Debra!  I totally agree! We're all in this together...I just don't see why some agents can't "play nice"!   I've run into the "bad apple" agents, and inwardly groan when I see their names on a contract.  But I try to keep a good attitude and just concentrate on getting the deal to closing.  So let them be rotten apples...they'll fall off the tree soon enough!

There are good and bad in all communities, professions and in personal life as well. I suppose that no matter who we cross paths with...it's up to us....how we handle it. Bad attitudes and negativity rub off on us...so I'll just deal with it.....and then move on.

Thomas, you're so right about that!

Tom, I agree. I have not met anyone that could kill me with kindness! That's a good idea though.

Deb,

I too wholeheartedly agree...And in view of the fact that we are to serve our clients first, in seems to me that the agent involved is doing a disservice to their current client and future clients if they are rude etc.  Word like that gets out!

Good morning Debra!

Thanks for the great post. We all have to remember that sometimes to help someone else will really help you as well. Recently I helped a friend with a huge task of coping a bunch of files for a custody battle. We spent about 20 hours over two days in Kinkos to get it all done. Don't you know I was wearing my KW nametag, so people thought I worked there and repeatedly asked me for help. I helped whenever I could and directed some people to the real Kinkos employees. I had two people ask me for a business card!! I think they were impressed with my positive attitude and I have a listing appointment scheduled for Monday. If you put good out into the world it will come back to you. Just be nice and do the right thing.

Betina, you are something else...you are the type of person I like to be around. When you put out an honest effort and good vibes they will come back to you ten fold. How wonderful of you to spend the time to do that for her. Im surprised that Kinko's didn't offer you a job! Of course selling that listing will more than pay you for the time there and that's how it works. Awesome.

Anthony, thanks. In times like these it's more difficult to put the client first for many. We must do that even if it hurts...

Lori, EXACTLY!!!!

Hi Deb, I work with a mutual friend of ours, Russell Lewis and he told me about you and some of the other good people he's met at Active Rain. This is a very good article and it's true that our attitudes can help us or hurt us! Thanks!

Deb, Don't ya just want to smack some of the agents who are so nasty and negative?  I just smile and try to look on the bright side.  I watch them roll their eyes at me, but I know I am doing better all around than they are.

Hi Deb - They're not worth the emotional drain....

Deb, I would not deal with them again. I'd do my very best to finish the current project and then move on. There are too many other agents out there to work with than to subject oneself to the emotional trauma of watching another contract fall apart because someone refuses to work well with others.

I have found that sometimes shyness can be mistaken for rudeness.  People see my face on A LOT of ads and see what type of business I do and have an expectation of what I will be like when they meet me and truth is, i am very shy.  Now, once I know you Bar the door.  But I get comments from agents about how they thought I was tough or a snob at first and then realize that I just did not know them as well as they thought they knew me.  i am not a rotten apple, but maybe a crab apple.

Sally, you are one person in the rain that I knew would have a positive attitude towards this. Bad attitudes and negativity rub off on us...so I'll just deal with it.....and then move on. quote by Sally;

I so agree with you. It's all we can do. I like what Tom said too...Kill them with niceness...I started that process today. We'll see how that works. I'm always willing to give it a try.

Michelle, I love Russell. If you are a friend of his then you are a friend of mine! Tell me more!

Audrey June...yep. Yes I have ... in the past. I am trying very very hard to not let them get to me.

Linda, these are words from the wise. For sure.

C-, I have a list of no-no's. I don't think we could rectify the problem but I am open for most anything.

Jane, Marchel Peterson was telling me that just the other day. I feel Marchy is a very good friend of mine and I had never seen her as shy! She overcomes it with flying colors and a big beautiful smile. I'm sure you do the same...

Deb - Nice analogy. I can deal with the bad apples, but biting into a worm is really annoying.

The name.... the reputation that follows it.... something we should all keep in mind... all the time....   It's so much better to live all "helping each other out" !!

Kim, yes. It is so much better to live helping each other out. I do agree wholeheartedly...

Remember when we use to fold our hands together to provide a rung of the ladder? It took work and a little discomfort but it was worth it. We were a unit and the target survived...that's a team. Thanks.

To me "Real Estate" is not about sales. It's about marketing and RELATIONSHIPS. Thankfully many bad Realtors have fallen off of the tree.
