ambiance staging boulderFor a while now I have been using ' sofa accent' pillows on beds, to add bulk and beauty to a bedset.  You know, those 13-15" square pillows normally placed on either side of a sofa?

But I always felt they looked, well, like you put sofa pillows on a bed (kind of wierd).   I much prefer the look of 'bed accent pillows' on a bed, or if you buy the whole bed-in-a-bag that had multiple sizes of accent pillows.

But it's not cost effective to always buy those.  So, as you all know, you gotta mix it up a bit.

Sooo... lately I've been noticing an increase of those rectangular bed pillows being sold in the discount stores, and I love using them on beds; the just look so much more appropriate.

My eureka moment was why not use these rectangular 'bed' pillows on a sofa??

I tried it and I LOVE THE LOOK!!! Now I use these rectangular pillows on beds, sofas, loveseats, dining room chairs, accent chairs, and on and on....  And this way around I don't think they look wierd or out of place at all.

They are so versatile and look FABULOUS wherever you sling em!

I love the look and shape of these rectangular pillows too.  They are perfect for sofas and are more comfortable than square ones ... they fit snugly against your lower back.

I love them too sister!  I am having my helper sew me a couple of those in different colors for front and back. Front plain and the back with a printed/stripe fabric, that way you maximize on flexibility for different fabric choices.  I also love the long "husbands" (that's what I've heard them be called) but they are long pillows that I used when I was pregnant.  I made them to measure the width of queens and kings. I use them behind decorative pillows to give the beds depth.

You mean body pillows? I use them too behind my fancies on a bed but now I'm definitely calling them husbands.

Both of my kids have the large body pillows on their beds (with their favorite football team), and it never dawned on me to use them behind the regular pillows on staging jobs.  Thank you for that!

The husband pillow will be hard for me to say without laughing!

Kristal~  Thanks sweetie! What a pleasant surprise :) Lovely flowers that never die to brighten my days.

LOL you guys!  I wasn't meaning those body pillows, but what an awesome idea!  I'll take credit for it!

I was meaning those rectangular pillows as shown above that work well on sofas and armchairs :)

I like the post Jessica, I too was using what you described but I think the rectangluar pillows are more modern and contemporary in any space. That will be my next investment. Love the striped ones you chose btw!

Hello Everyone..

Don't forget to try those fabric sample squares. Fabric shops, custom drapery department, etc have discontinued ones every now and again..  Hancock Fabrics is downsizing (again) and I bought 10 at 99 cents each!!! Pillow form for 3.99 and 1.98 on 18 x 18 inch squares and it looks like you spent a fortune.

Jessica.... What is the measurement of your stripped pillow??  Looks like I am adding another pillow size or 2 to that already overstuffed pillow bad..  I headed to the sewing machine to cover 2 unused body pillows the minute I read Marcyne's comment ( by the way if we could get husbands to sleep like that, we wouldn't need body pillows!!!!!)

( my word makes me want to run for the tequila!!)
