ActiveRain's Hit Router allows you to "opt-in" or "opt-out" depending on if you have an IDX and want to participate or not.  What is IDX you ask?  "IDX or Internet Data Display, is a program initiated by the National Association of Realtors which went into effect on January 1st of 2002. The IDX concept allows the members of an MLS system to display publicly, on their company or personal web site, all of the currently available properties for sale within that MLS system."

Hit Router allows you to set this up by using the opt-in and opt-out options shown in the screens below.

IMPORTANT NOTE

The "Hit Router" will ONLY show up on your pages when LOGGED OUT of AR.

By default, the top of your screen will look like this:
(it appears this way on your Blog, your Posts, and your Profile)

If you decide to "opt-out"
(which I can't see why anyone would) your screen will look like this:

To opt-in or opt-out, just do the following:

1. Go to the "My Settings" page after you're logged in.

2. Put a check in the box to show the Hit Router Search Box on your pages.

3. Un-check the box if you wish to "opt-out" and NOT show the Hit Router on your pages.

Once you enter your Title and the Link location of your site, just click update and you're done.  You can direct this link to any location of your choice.  I recommend some type of lead capture site that helps you grow leads and business.  This is really simple to do and should literally only take you seconds to setup. If you need additional help, feel free to contact any of the AR team and staff, we'd be happy to help assist you.

Hi Brad-I did an all-nighter so I might be missing it, but I don't see where you can bookmark this.  I need to look at this again when I'm not so tired. I see you have more posts like this. If there isn't a way to bookmark this I'll just write a note to myself about these. So this must be the big surprise for us. COOL!!!!

Brad, if your up. My box was showing on the top, then when I went and checked the box it went away on all my posts, profile etc. I set up a campaign and added my cities.

Hhmmm, I am "opted in", started a campaign, added money to account and no box.  What am I doing wrong?

I'm looking into this new feature now.  I think I have an idea of how it works and I need to explore my options for using it to my benefit.  Thanks for your post.

To bookmark any AR post by any member, there are a couple of ways to do this:

1. Use the bookmark tool built into AR - looks like this and it's just below each post.  Once you click on it, it will look like this which means it's saved to your bookmarks on AR.

2. You will find some other ways to bookmark posts in this tutorial:  How To BookMark AR Posts More Effectively

Missy - me too!  :-(   I was actually glad to see your comment this morning and that I wasn't the only one, I thought maybe I broke it! haha.  I'm sure they are still getting it all setup today, maybe they ran into a glitch or something so I'm sure it will be back up shortly.  I saw it on the main page when I woke up, but then it mysteriously just vanished.  No worries, you know us!  :-)

Leesa - I think they are still trying to get it setup.  Sometimes there are snags when these things get added.  Hang in there, I know they're working on it right now.  :-)

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS

The "Listing Router" will ONLY show up on your pages when LOGGED OUT of AR.

Currently, the Listing Router is displayed only to consumers. There's little value in showing a listings search to our logged-in members :) The customized link is also meant to be displayed exclusively to consumers. We wanted our members to be able to continue playing in the rain without the distraction of a floating bar at the top of every page that would have absolutely no value to them. Hope this makes sense.  :-)

Missy - did you expect anything less? LOL!  I'm glad it's working out, and I'm glad this post isn't getting many comments too.  I honestly can't see any reason that anyone would opt out of this feature, can I just delete this post now? ROFL>>>>  hahaha!!  :-)

Hey Brad - I'm fairly new to Active Rain. I'm still kind of checking out the listing router. I'm thinking it doesn't really do you any good unless you have an IDX site set up. Is my thinking correct? I will continue to investigate. I'm a slow learner what canI say.

Thanks!

Ken

Marian - we made it through the first day. That's one small step for ActiveBrad, one HUGE step for AR members! LOL~ Enjoy!!  :-)

12:53am • #15

Roland - I can't think of a single reason myself, the only reason that I could possibly imagine, well... I better not comment about, it wouldn't be politically correct.  :-O  haha.

12:55am • #16

Ken  - a good IDX site with a lead generating capture would be my recommendation for sure.  If you're not converting clicks to leads, and then leads to closings, I don't really see any point sending traffic to a site that gets you no short or long term results.  If you need any help, just let me know.  Thanks for the comment and don't worry about learning slowly here, sometimes that's the best way. :-)

Thanks Brad.  I read another blog that mentioned a listing router and I didn't know what it was.  Your post helps.

Richard - I think we named it that just because of what it does, routes traffic to your listings.  I don't think much went into naming this new feature.  LOL~

Brad - As usual, I am pretty much lost in space here.  I know that I don't have an IDX site with lead generating capture.  So I am going to try to set it up the lead generator with my plain old MLS search url and change it later when I get whatever it is that I need for lead capture.  Which means I will call my daughter (who is the brains - I am the beauty) and have her do a lead generating whatever.

This sounds like a wonderful feature and thank you all for adding this opportunity.

Consider this fair warning, though.  I AM ABOUT TO GO TO MY SETTINGS.  Last time I did that, I messed up my blog page so bad that you and Bob had to fix it.

Virginia - the suspense was killing me, but since I haven't heard back from you, I guess it's safe to comment back now! haha.  Just kidding, you know if you ever need any help, or if you just screw things up real bad, you know I got ya covered, we proved that already right?  :-)  Seriously, let me know if you need any help.

Brad - I think you can come out now - I didn't blow anything up this time.  :)

It no longer amazes me that you fix my mistakes, just that you do it so quickly.  Last one was a Sunday night as I recall.

Thanks!!!

Aron - I understand, and I already shared my thoughts with you on the other post you commented on.  I feel like I am chasing you around my Blog today.  LOL~  We have many other tools available for our network of stagers here on AR.  Just keep browsing around like you are and you're sure to discover many of them. :-)
