One of the BEST ways to bring value to a home that is going up for sale is to suggest to the owner to get a Solar Hot Water System... ((Avg $10 INCREASED Market Value per dollar saved is the Value added according to the HUD appraisal journal, so factor it into the price or not depending on how bad they want to sell it.))

Separate yourself from the average Realtor that says "Well you need to paint the walls and get new carpet and upgrade some appliances" YES they are all good generic suggestions but BE Different, BE Unique.

BE the Realtor that says to potential clients : "THIS House here has FREE HOT WATER"

You want more sales in a tough economy well do what the BEST Real Estate Agents do, Get Creative...Suggest a Solar Hot Water System!

"There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist,
or accept the responsibility for changing them." ~ Denis Waitley

We ALL can agree that electric bills seem like a forever increasing issue for most homeowners...Show them a solution NOT just talk about the problem.

Recommend that they Part ways from that "ENERGY HOG" called the "Electric" Hot Water tank and move over to a Solar Hot Water system... The new owner will save $70-$90 per month immediately ($80 avg. x 12 months = $960 x 5 years is almost $5000 SAVINGS and that doesn't factor in any Electric Utilities increases, so it's actually way over $5000 and probably closer to $6000.

You think if you help move a house faster because of this simple Upgrade OR have a prospect BUY that house because it has FREE hot Water will get you some more Kind Referrals...YOU are Correct!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you invest in a Solar Hot Water System it puts you on the road to FREE Hot Water with a payback of 2 - 3 years and we all know how fast the years go bye....bye :-(
The Benefits to you:
  • Reduce your energy bills by 30%
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Make a difference by helping to reduce greenhouse emissions by reducing your dependency on your electric or gas water heater
  • Add Value to your home and if you sell your home, It's Nice to say "THIS HOUSE has FREE Hot Water". A way better upgrade then new carpet & fresh paint, even though that helps as well.
  • Avg $10 INCREASED Market Value per dollar saved is the Value added according to the HUD appraisal journal
  • Extends the expected life of your residential hot water tank.
  • Qualifies for the 30% Federal Tax Credits
A Solar Hot Water System from Abundant Energy, Inc. is a great way you can offset the never ending increases. An average savings with Solar Hot Water per month is $70-$90, your payback is 2-3 years.
After that you can say   “I have FREE Hot water”
I love free!  When your title suggested getting something free I came a running!  Solar panels, although expensive to install, are certainly worth the money.
That is a great example of thinking creatively.  I love it.
I am gong to research that for my area.
Thanks.
That's a cool catch line - I thought it stupid at first because I read it too fast as "fre hot water heater" When rereading it as "Free hot water" (now) its pretty was pretty cool.  It would certainly get me interested enough to look at it if I was in the market.
What is the average cost of the system? I am really interested.  I agree this could be a big sell and I am wondering why we don't see more of this.  Is this restrictive to certain climate conditions?
Hi Stan Very Good Questions.... There are various types of Solar Hot Water Systems... Down here in South FL we use an ACTIVE Open Panel System (means the water is going through the system all day long and as the sun fades about 2 gallons of water can stay up on the roof without worrying about freezing temps. but if you live in states that get below freezing they use a Passive Closed Panel System so it doesn't freeze in the Solar Collector on Cold days or nights.
But works anywhere in the USA and Michigan is one of the leaders in Solar Hot Water installations...Only need an avg. of 4 to 6 hours of sunlight to get that water very hot!!! Get's hotter then regular electric/gas tanks. Don't worry you can lower it if it is toooo hot for you.
For the USA there is a 30% Federal Tax Credit up to $2000 for Solar Hot Water which just has been extended for 8 more years until 2016... very huge for The Solar Industry to create more sales thus getting the prices lower each year.
Most states have a rebate as well. FL has $500 rebate program...so after rebates & tax incentives anywhere from $1500 to $3000 is about the average net cost fully installed.
ROI on most systems is 2 - 3 years, then you have FREE Hot Water.
For NEW Home Construction, States are starting to make Solar Hot Water Systems mandatory. They just did in Hawaii.
Best thing to do if your not from South FL is to contact a local Solar Provider Co. to see what the costs and state rebates are...If you are from South FL feel free to give me a call to share more specifics/details
Thanks, Bob.
