I had sent my condolences to her Tv station KATV last week when I learned about the story.  Just a brutal horrible story...

Anne Pressly Dies

We didn't see this one coming. We thought that Anne Pressly, who was brutally attacked in her home a few days ago, was going to recover form her injuries, but she sadly passed away earlier today. This crime's just been upped to a homicide. Pressly was only 26 years old. Our thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family.

News clipping from earlier this week...

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ A popular TV anchorwoman remained in critical condition Monday after she was beaten in her home, for reasons not yet known.

KATV anchor Anne Pressly, 26, was found about 4:30 a.m. Monday by her mother, who went to the house when her daughter didn't answer a wake-up call, Little Rock police spokeswoman Cassandra Davis said. Pressly was in her bed and was unresponsive. A police report notes that she was bleeding from the head.

Davis said Pressly sustained "severe wounds" and that she was in critical condition at an area hospital. Davis said Pressly was stabbed, but KATV - citing investigators - later reported that all of her injuries were from blunt force trauma to the head and upper body.

Over the weekend, Pressly appeared briefly in the movie W, which opened Friday.

Davis said investigators have not ruled out robbery but are talking to Pressly's co-workers to determine whether she "has had any problems." Davis said Pressly's purse was gone and that robbery was among the possible motives being explored. Davis would not discuss specifics of what the investigation revealed.

The last known contact with Pressly was between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Davis said Pressly's mother regularly gives her daughter a wake-up call and went to the home in Little Rock's Pulaski Heights neighborhood when Pressly didn't answer.

Sean -

Still, some agents don't take appropriate safety precautions, especially when showing a vacant home to a stranger.

Very sad - very stupid!

Please, folks, wise up - quickly!

Marlene & Dean,

Thanks for the good points and solid reminders.

I can't even begin to imagine how the parents are doing.

I did hear the KATV station has the reward for catching the scumbag who did this up to $30,000, so hopefully the police will get this slimeball.

In  our little  Seaside Community  in  Rocky Point Mexico,  I  always  get a chuckle  from the  agents here  in our office.  My  SAFETY CHECK  calls to the agents doing open houses  are well received, only     I get the feeling that  most of the staff  doesn't think it is necessary.   Despite  the fact  that  just a month ago  a not so  old agent had a stroke  while  taking pictures at a listing,  and no one knew where he had gone,  he finally  recovered enough  to get himself out of there and check into the  nearest clinic.  Common sense  is  not so common.

How sad -- a lovely young woman senselessly having her life cut short.  What is the point . . . . ? ~Evelyn

Many years ago, I owned a burglar alarm company.  I had recommended to many of the local builders install audible alarms outside their model homes and give their sales associate a remote signaler.  Everyone thought I was a crazy until a friedn of mine was brutally raped and murdered in one of the model homes.

Now every builder raced to have our industry provide these devices and audible/monitored equipment.  Apathy always beats out reality and few if any remember my friend.

Having a remote to a car alarm that does not stop if an emergency is worth considering for those realtors who drive home to home.
