Some of you may have seen my Kodak v705 Tutorial I -White Balance.  This is something all real estate photographers and stagers need to know. Here is the worst of the five photographs with regard to white balance.

Obviously white balance can be adjusted by changing camera settings.  However lets say the balance was off and you need this photo.

With Photoshop Elements 4.0 and 5.0, correcting it is simple.  Open your program , select Edit and Enhance, and then open the image.  If you have Photoshop as your default picture editor, all you have to do is click on  the image in the directory and folder where it is stored on your computer.

Next select Quick Fix in the top right hand menu.

On the right hand column you can select several fix options.  Go down to the color menu and select Temperature. Move the slider bar left or right until you find the most pleasing color balance.  Click on the Check Mark to impliment the change.

That is it! Save your work and exit.

Here is the corrected photograph.

You can make other adjustments as well, however Temperature was the only change I made here.

Wow Mike - what a dramatic difference.  OK I've really got to get better with the photo editing software.  I think that may be even more important than the original shot.  Thanks for the post.

Hi Mike,

I recently purchased Photoshop CS2. It's so complicated that I had to go out and buy a book to teach me how to use it. And I thought I could handle this computer stuff.

Nice job with Elements!

John,

Wow! Photoshop CS2 is an overkill for what we need to do.  And to costs about $650.  That's a lot of money. Photoshop Elements can do everything I need.  I am not running a professional photo studio where I need to make minute adjustments and broader (a wider range of) adjustments of contrast, sharpness, brightness, etc. I bought version 5.0 of Elements for $60.00 and it includes two licenses, one for my desktop and one for my laptop.
