I am wondering about the scoring system.I noticed that when I post a blog I get 200 or 225 points. What makes it worth those amounts and why aren't they all worth 225? Then I saw that points are added to the blog over time. What causes that to happen? I like the additional points...I am just curious as to where the additional points come from. Does the amunt of groups that you post to make a difference? Does it depend on how many people view your blog?
I got no clue. But I posted some of my points to illustrate my dilemma.
the 25 extra is scored for posting the link to a channel as well because they are trying to promote the new channels feature. You can actually go back and adjust all your old posts and put them into a group for 25 extra each time you do it. I went back the other day and got like 1000 more poiints and no I didnt do it for the points. I did it because you will get more SEO once google starts likeing the new structure for the site.
Great pointers....like that SEO Google juice! Also awesome to get more points. To Anser Michaels question... the comments on the blogs tend to give extra points as well.
Thanks

PS - Welcome To Active Rain... I noticed you joined in September! Good Job!
I noticed the same thing yesterday with my four posts. I don't have any comments on them but I immediately got 225 points. I was curious about it but was thinking it was because I added photos to the posts. I'll be interested to find out the "REAL" answer.
Thanks for the post.....and for helping us all find out the answer! Guess I'll have to post a few to channels also so I can help get some "google love"
The real answer is like I said before. You get 200 base points for writing a blog no matter where you post it as long as its original material. You can post it to 1 or 0 or 5 groups. you get no points for groups but you do have a bigger chance of someone seeing your post.
you get 25 additional points for posting it in the channels section. They want all new posts put here and they want to move all the old posts here as well so you get more points for putting them here.
I found some good info here...on a blog that did not get points...
