I apologize for not giving any updates recently on the Tampa Bay Rays, however after losing Game 1, 3 & 4 of the World Series to the Phillies of Philadelphia, I began to think if it can really happen. Not really.
Imagine the headlines in Friday morning's newspapers..." RAYS WIN WORLD SERIES". With 3 games remaining, the RAYS need to win all 3 to make believers out of everyone who doubted their ability to win. In over 100 years, a team has only come back 6 times to win the Series after being down 3 games to 1, and this hasn't happened since 1985! Ouch.
Are the RAYS really behind the eight ball? I still say NO!They came back from the same deficit against the Red Sox. The odds were against them here as well. I believe that the RAYS have enough of young, talented players and experienced coaches, all of who have no egos, and that they can make it happen. Their fans, even those who jumped onto their bandwagon are still in their corner, with only a few jumping off and saying " I told you so".
No matter what happens in the next few days, the RAYS are winners in my book, (the Phillies are winners too); just for getting to the Dance. This was a remarkable season for Tampa Bay, and like the Braves of Atlanta a few years back, I believe that the RAYS will be contenders for years to come.
