The Timken Company, who have a regional office at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research, have announced that they will target the upcoming bearings market for wind energy.  The plant in Union, SC will add machinery to increase production capacity for large bore bearings.  Timken recently announced a commitment to China's XEMC to build a facility in Xiangtan, Hunan Province.  General Electric is another Greenville corporation that has begun to produce turbines for the wind energy market. General Electric is one of the largest employers in the area which has had a pronounced impact on Greenville SC real estate.
