I had two really good agents enter into an extended slump.  Not all that uncommon over the last couple of years.  After talking to them at some length I discovered they were spending way to much time in their cushy home offices.  So I took them away - not literally of course, but figuratively.  I told them that they had to close the door and they weren't allowed in for 30 days.  Instead I asked them to go to Starbucks with their laptops and do their work from there.

Within 2 weeks both of them were back on the side of positive momentum with fresh leads and activity from folks they had run into at Starbucks. Within 4 they were back in the saddle, flush with new transactions and able to re-enter their home office with a renewed focus and perspective.

The biggest thing when you find yourself in a slump is to go to the people.  We tend to hide and bury ourselves with busywork to feel busy instead of focusing on productivity.

good point.  I was feeling that way and I too decided to get out and start networking more and just get out in general.

This is great advice- some I think I need to take! I have heard this works here from some fellow agents in my office.

Another thing that could muster up some business is to hold meetings AT the coffee shop. I have a meeting the last Thursday of the month called "Condos Over Coffee".. it is a little session with anyone interested in talking about the Seattle RE market place and enjoy a nice cup of joe.

Thanks for sharing, Nicole Weidauer

I always wondered if that would work. Thanks!

that is so true. A huge majority of people tend to go into hiding when things are bad and think they will come out when the storm is over. In real estate you have to have the fighting attitude and the desire to put yourself in front of people and not be afraid to speak up. You can whether any storm if you are willing to work hard.

Really good point!     We're in a people biz, so if we're not connecting with "the people", how can anything happen???     Sometimes, I think that the technology side of today's biz allows that kind of "hiding" from our client base.     In the end, it's not about computers at all.

Nice innovative way of breaking the routine and re-focusing on getting in front of people.

Good points made.  We need to interact with people and get our name and services out in front of many people as possible.
