Things we can accomplish in a slow market

I know you guys haven't heard from me in awhile and the rest of you don't care.  But I read AR alot in my few minutes when I am not busy and still love the community and it's people.  The Austin market is still fairly stable and people are still buying.  There are so many great homes on the market here, that the people who do still have some disposable income/good credit are buying homes.  Since there are over 11,700 properties available, clients are coming out of nowhere, slower than last year, yes but I'll take it while I can.

Back to the point, even though there are homes being bought and sold, there is more downtime for me and here is what I have as my goal to do til things turn around.  I have tripled my marketing efforts, phoning my sphere, increasing magazine ads, postcards, blogging, SEO on my website, handing out my business cards, etc. and the last thing is I AM VOLUNTEERING AND DONATING TO Charities and groups that need me.

I am sure you are saying, the market is down, I can't afford to give any money to charity.  Yes, you can!! Think about that cup of coffee you purchase for an OMG amount or one day a week taking leftovers instead of eatting out.  Relatively speaking, if you only do the above one day a week, you have just saved yourself $15 or more.  Now, if we all gave even $15 a month to our favorite charity, that is $180 a year in donations (it's a tax exemption).  Ok, now multiply that same $180. by the amount of AR members (sit down) the amount we could donate is......$21,022,740

No man is an island, but collectively you and I could make a big difference to the non-profits who are hurting badly right now.  Give up a coke or two, a lunch or two, give your time to Meal's on Wheels or the local humane society.  The rewards far outway the time or cash.
