The Democrats have been saying that John McCain is out of touch with the American people. Well I happen to think they are right. I mean here is a man who is running with a campaign slogan of "Country First", how out of touch is that? What year does McCain think it is 1961? Americans today are no longer asking what they can do for their country, but rather what the country can do for them. And if Barack Obama is elected, apparently the country's going to be doing a whole heck of a lot.
Perhaps, McCain should have ran with the slogan "Me First" instead and Americans would have related to him better. Look, I know he is a celebrated war hero and has spent most of his life serving his country. I even know that he has the scars to prove it. But patriotism in American is so passe, having come in to fashion again for a short time after September 11, 2001 and quickly fading out shortly afterwards. It's 2008, John McCain, get a clue. Real Americans don't want to be bothered with serving their country. They don't care for your plans that will both eliminate our dependence on foreign oil and create millions of jobs. Jobs? Why that would mean you'd have to work and Americans don't want to do that!
Americans don't think those greedy rich people pay their fair share of taxes so they favor Obama's plan which will raise taxes on the rich, small businesses and large corporations (you know all those people who actually create jobs) a plan which then takes all of that additional tax revenue and ... um, eh, well I haven't exactly figured out how a few hundred dollars in tax cuts will enable all of the middle class folks to move to the 90210 but maybe that's not really the point. As long as we stick it to the rich people and corporations so they can't create any more jobs everything will be ok. Well at least until that unforseen international crisis ( the one that only Joe Biden is aware of) comes along in order to test Obama but hey that's another story...
Then that silly, old McCain wants to allow insurance companies to compete across state lines in order for consumers to be able to purchase the best insurance to meet their needs. He'll even give families a $5000 tax-credit to do so. Purchase insurance? Americans can't afford thousands of dollars for health insurance premiums, how on earth would they be able to buy that new flat screen TV that just came out? Out of touch doesn't even begin to describe you, John McCain.
Now Obama says his healthcare plan will save the average American family $2500 per year in health insurance premiums by requiring companies to adopt cost cutting measures. Now we all know that major corporations have no obligations at all to people like their shareholders when it comes to profits and such and they always pass the savings back to the customers don't they? Don't they??? Ok, maybe not, but Obama's also going to mandate that everyone have access to health insurance and that no one is denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions and that sounds good too. Healthcare for everyone? How 1992! I guess making promises that you can't deliver never goes out of style.
Now if you are one of those people who don't really care about the "issues" I leave you with this to prove to you just how out of touch McCain really is. You see while John McCain is out there being patriotic and putting his country first, Obama knows that patriotic gestures like putting your hand over your heart during the national anthem are soooo outdated.
Instead today's Americans want a leader who can throw their hands in the air and "Drop it Likes It's Hot". Check this out as Snoop Dogg Obama shows us he knows how to "keep it real" like any 2008 world leader should.
Come on Tchaka. There should be no raising the roof in the White House no matter who the President is. Nor should the President do the Soulja Boy Dance, the Pop Lock and Drop It, or any other dance shown on TRL. Call me old fashioned but ...
OK, you are old fashioned Michelle, but then so am I. I believe we need change, but I don't see it coming from Obama, I see more and more and more spending.
Michelle - NO ONE should do the Soulja Boy Dance. EVER! Obama will lose my support instantly if he goes that route. That's down near Macarena lowliness.
Michelle, I watched both the videos PLUS at the end of the Obama video I watched the following video at the end where he is dancing with Ellen D. I had not seen it before. I Loved It.
Guys watch the Video again and at the bottom when it ends it shows the ELLEN VIDEO>.
Linda Mae - I know which Ellen video you are referring to but it is not posted here. Perhaps it came up linked to one of these videos on youtube.? Nonetheless, I hope as Americans we are voting based on the issues, and not just because someone is a good dancer, great speaker, or some other irrelevant reason.
Michelle, Hi all I can say is I just watched your video again just now and at the end ON YOUR POST it gives me the option to click on other video's and it is the Ellen one. No dancing is certainly NO reason to vote for ANYONE I just thought it was cute.
WOW I sure got hit with comments for watching the other video that came up on your post. Sorry for the confusion. BUT IT IS THERE.
Mitchell - Sarah Palin is just as qualified if not more so than Obama, yet she is running for VP not president. What does that say about the Democrat ticket? I agree that a good slogan is not enough to sell an inferior product. I personally like Obama's "Change We Can Believe In". Now I notice it doesn't actually say that change is coming, just that we can believe in it. I mean I can believe in Santa Claus too but that doesn't mean a jolly, fat man in red will ever leave presents under my tree.
Linda Mae - Again I understand the you tube video links to other videos, just like a link to a nes article will link to others in the paper, a link to an AR post will link to other blogs... Anyway I'm glad you enjoyed it
Hugh - well he is a better dancer/rapper than McCain
Thankfully, only one week to go. The impact of a first term president is highly overrated in my opinion. Using the example of health care, all the way back to Nixon, we've talked about this issue every election. What's changed? Zilch, Nada, Nil, Zippo! I have been a life long Republican, and will continue to be so. However, this entire campaign has been somewhat embarrassingto watch. Underhanded, divisive, nasty, and filled with deception from all sides. 'Facts' are so distorted and blown out of proportion is sad to see. No matter what happens, in 7 short days it's over. Perhaps then we'll pay attention to the things that really matter, like our economy, Afghanistan and Iraq, energy independence. Or maybe it will all simply be forgotten, again......
Scott - You are right about healthcare and I believe the same is true for changing the nation's energy policy. Maybe I am being naive but I really do believe that McCain will follow thru with that.
