Bottled Water No Safer Than Tap Water, Study Finds

The two-year study was conducted by the Environmental Working Group, an environmental advocacy group founded by scientists.

The study's lab tests on 10 brands of bottled water detected 38 chemicals including bacteria, caffeine, the pain reliever acetaminophen, fertilizer, solvents, plastic-making chemicals and the radioactive element strontium. Though some probably came from tap water that some companies use for their bottled water, other contaminants probably leached from plastic bottles, the researchers said.

"In some cases, it appears bottled water is no less polluted than tap water and, at 1,900 times the cost, consumers should expect better," said Jane Houlihan, an environmental engineer who co-authored the study.

The researchers recommend that people worried about water contaminants drink tap water with a carbon filter. EcoQuest's Living Water system starts with carbon filtration, UV, and safe ozonation to make water cleaner and better tasting. Custom prefilters are also available for the Living Water III so you can design a unit to meet your specific needs.

The Living Water filtering system delivers in both taste and safety, says EcoQuest Business Owner Harold Elmore of Greensboro, N.C. "I believe in cold, fresh, clean water. We drink a lot of water. Now when we go out someplace and drink normal water, all the added chemicals and contaminants are not only bad for us, but they taste terrible."

Save those bottles from the landfill and drink fresh, clean water with the Living Water systems.

My husband has to have purified water. He had a liver problem a few years ago with too much Iron built up. Tap water is very high in content so we buy bottled. Now I find this.

Amazing that this would take any study 2 years....if anyone bothered to look at the source of "bottled water" and realize that there are no standards set  the money for the study could actually have been used to study something worthwhile...like the pollution of bottled water !
