Plush it Up

Looking to add more style and luxury to your bathrooms?

Whether your home is on the market for sale or you simply want to add more luxury and style to your bathroom, there are small changes that anyone can make to help transform the bathroom experience.

A survey by the makers of Quilted Northern Ultra Plush 3 ply tissue, of which I’m now serving as the local spokesperson, found that 74% of women wished their bathroom were a place where they could relax.

Here are some tips for taking the bathroom from beyond clean and comfortable and into a warm and inviting space that welcomes you in:

  • Indulge: Add decorative towels and hand towels.  Fresh new towels displayed over the bathtub and on the bathroom counter will help set a mood of luxury and indulgence.
  • Slip Into Comfort:  Add a pair of slippers next to the bathtub, as it will serve as a reminder that there's warmth and comfort when you step out of that bubble bath.
  • Take it Off the Hook:  Instead of hanging a robe on a hook, purchase a nice wooden hanger.  It's an easy solution that adds a touch of luxury.
  • Plush It Up:  From fluffy bath mats to quality bath tissue such as Quilted Northern Ultra Plush 3 Ply, you have a perfect and affordable way in which to add added layers of softness.
  • Fancy that:  How you display your items has an overall impact on how the room feels.  Glass containers to house your bath crystals, soaps, etc... add instant style to your room.

Because a master bathroom is viewed as an escape, a place to pamper and relax after a long hard day it becomes an important room within the home.  These affordable solutions can be applied to any home.

Here's an example of a model home I had home staged using some of these techniques:

In this before picture, you'll see that the bathroom is still under construction.

Indulge, luxury, plush. . . you used all the words we would love to describe our bathrooms Kathy.  It even makes me want to soak in the spa tub that so rarely gets used.  The best part is that adding luxury to your bath can be accomplished without spending a lot of $$.

Spokesperson for Quilted Northern tissues?  How did you get that gig?  Sounds awesome.  The "after" pic is awesome as always!

Thanks, Bob. The marketing company found my web site and blog and then contacted me.  Thanks for the compliment on how the bathroom came out.

Kathy, congratulations for being chosen as a spokesperson for Northern.  They could not have picked a better advisor.  Your article reminded me that in my own bathroom I have to take it off the hook.  Just have to train my husband to hand instead of hook.

If one couldn't relax in that bathroom they'd probably need anti-anxiety medication, Kathy. Nice job !

Thanks everyone for your very kind words!  There are so many things we can do within bathrooms, whether they're on the market or not, to help create a more relaxing environment.  I really need to add to the list the use of candles, homemade soaps and a few other ideas that I have brewing.

In the meantime, I appreciate you all taking the time to comment.

Beautiful bathroom Staging! I love the idea of using a nice wooden hanger for your robe - so luxurious!

OK...I need to go work on my bathroom like right now because it's not inviting nor relaxing like this one.  My flat iron, hair spray and make up scattered about certainly don't make me say 'aaahhh' when I walk in my bathroom!  lol  I do, however, hang my robe on the wooden hanger.  Woo hoo...1-point for me!  =)

Thanks for those reminders because we all should have our own spaces look and feel fabulous, too!  =)

Kathy great job and I love that bathroom. It is gorgeous! The dark cabinetry is real sharp and Iam not usually a fan of dark wood.
