More good news is on the horizon for those people who don't like Zillow:

A Zillow competitor is: www.realestateabc.com  The name isn't as cool and the design isn't a fluid as Zillow, but it may be better in some ways. For instance, Real Estate ABC allows users to adjust property values for a particular property with an Ajax slider. Adjustable property factors include Interior, Exterior, Lot Size, View, Privacy/Noise and Local Market Conditions.

Users can also refine property values by adding or removing comparables directly on the results page. In fact, Real Estate ABC gives significant detail on comparables, including distance from a specific address. Real Estate ABC also provides a mashup with Google maps, although they do not use satellite images like Zillow.

Yea! Someone finally realised there were other sites that provide similar and sometimes more accurate information. Try cyberhomes.com also.

Zillow is its own worst enemy. On a phone call wih a prospective listing I asked them where they were looking to move. They gave me some areas they wanted to look so I pulled figures on homes in that area on Zillow. I then did a full 3-listing 3 sold CMA for each area. At the appointment the husband said that Zillow valued there house at $384,00 my CMA on their current neighborhood was $349,000. I showed him the Zillow figures for there desired relocation area; the husband said and I quote "They are full of crap, my boss only paid $419,00 for his house there is nothing in that neighborhood worth $448,00" I said exactly, slid the listing agreement for $349,000 in fron of him and he signed so fast he tore the page. His house sold full price in 22 days ( 4 days above average for that neighborhood) and he asked, why Zillow would be so over valued. I simply explained that a computer and a logarythym do not have emotions, children and mortgage payments. That is why location and price will always detrmine sales price! the computer does not take into effect the differences in neighborhoods in an area and zoning for schools in an area or traffic patterns and proximity to a grocery store, pharmacy and shopping. His neighborhood was not in the AAA rated school zone but the AA rated school, it was hard to exit the subdivision in the morning and the nearest grocery / pharmacy / shopping area was 2 miles or 15 minute away. However at $349,000 he had seen an 11%increase in value per year for the 5 years he had lived in tht neighborhood.

It's not hidden, it's right on the main page, and it's been there for quite a while.

www.realestateabc.com/ has been around for a long time. They were purchased about 18 months ago by Internet Brands, which owns cars.com, loans.com,vacationhomes.com and a slew of others.
