newspaperI was attending a local Fund Raising event yesterday.  We had just finished our meal and were commenting on the food when the subject of the local restaurant/carry-out came up.  Seems like the local place that has been frequented by the majority of the people there has gone down hill since one of the cooks left and another cook got fired.

The "grumpy" owner has taken over the cooking and is skimping on ingredients and quality.  Everyone was commenting that they are no longer frequenting that establishment and have moved on to the competition down the road.  They commented on how nice and polite they are in the other establishment and how great the food is.

Some people said that they were still going to the old place with the "grumpy" owner out of convenience but are going to try the other place down the road.

It is amazing how quickly bad press and negative comments can impact a business or an establishment.  I happened to go into the carryout last evening that was the "positive" establishment and told the owner that he was the "positive" talk at my table yesterday.  His face lit up and he wanted to know what the group was locally that the fund raiser was for.  He said he was going to do something nice for them and thanked me for the complement.

Good news travels fast, but bad news and negative comments travel faster, especially in business and when it comes to customer service and quality.

Yes, and everyone hears the news except the one that needs to.

I agree. People tend to focus more on the negative than the positive. Didn't we all wished they commented on the great service they receive to everyone they know. They forget about the great service so quickly.
