Yes, the foilage is beautiful. If you visit Helen, or surrounding areas of Batesville, Lake Burton, Clarkesville, Cleveland, Sautee-Nacoochee or Dahlonega, you will indeed see some beautiful colors. Here in the Helen area, you have two more days of jacket weather It is 10:30 am and the temp is still under 50 degrees, going up to only 57, if the weather wizards are to be believed! The weekend will be somewhat warmer, but keep that jacket and hat in the car!
On the Chattahoochee river it is a little warmer and the trees turn a little more slowly than inland and on the highest peaks of Mt. Yonah, the photo ops are there! I do believe this weekend and next week will be the perfect time to get some good picture of the changing season. If you want to go on up to Batesville and Lake Burton, the color will be even better. Don't forget our scenic drive on Hwy 197 from Clarkesville to the Batesville area. As I told you before this area will remind you of England's Lake Country during the fall. Unbelievale splendor as you drive by Mark of the Potter will cause you to stop and enjoy! You can start a collection of hand made pottery if you like it and you will. Ask, but usually the yellow stickers mean the pottery is done by local artisans. Don't forget to feed the trout...no not worms, it is pellets, so it is clean and easy to do and the trout appreciate it. This is the only place in northeast Ga, that actually protects the trout from those fishing lines!! You can see some of the trout have thought over going anywhere else on the Soque! They know a good spot when they swim and eat there!
