McCain signs everywhere!

By

Up until a few days ago I was unable to find any McCain signs or bumper stickers. Some friends here on Activerain helped me with this and I am very appreciative.

Everywhere I drive here in my county of Dyer(Dyersburg,Tennessee) I see many many McCain signs and/or bumper stickers. I am doing my part now to get more of these out there.

I would say that for every Obama sticker or sign that I see, there are about 15 McCain/Palin signs or bumper stickers. I have to say that I am very proud of the hard working people in my town who know that the way to success is through hard work, not redistribution of wealth.

I am reminded of the recent post by Katerina who has a very heart touching story of hard work and perseverance.

I will predict that McCain/Palin will run away in Tennessee on November 4th and they will also squeak by in the electoral college and win this election!

It may be the biased press that wants you to believe Obama can win it.  I heard a few weeks ago here in Georgia that Virginia was Obama territory.  When I drove up there, it sure looked like McCain Country.  There were McCain Palin signs and billboards all over the place!  I do not follow polls, I vote my convictions.

Hi Mike,

I sit here in New England trying my best to understand red states and I just really do not get it.  We are really not sign country so pretty hard to tell how the vote will go.  I am sure you are all really wonderful people.  I am someone who will be taxed under the Obama tax plan.  I am not sure how we are expected to repair our crumbling infrastructure without taxes.  How are we supposed to have money to finally go after Bin Laden and end the Al Qaeda terrorist threat?  Fighting a war on credit is obviously not the way to go based on the state of our economy.  Where are the funds going to come from to return us to the educational and health care superiority we used to enjoy?  Before the Palin fiasco, I was on the fence but that along with the lack of response from McCain on the lies being spread in his name has assured my Obama vote.  I just do not get it.

Fred,

I hear what you are saying. However, as far as the infrastructure is concerned that is a function of the state governments. Our State of Tennessee has pretty good infrastructure right now because we have a strong budget minded democrat governor. He has done a really good job and now our roads and bridges are in good shape.

As far as Bin Laden is concerned, more taxes will not catch him.IMO, we just need to go into Pakistan with a strategic attack when we know without a doubt where he is right then. Clinton should have taken him out during his administration but he did not andBush has not either.

Mike: Not all infrastructure falls to the state. There are thousands interstate highway bridges that are in bad disrepair and millions of miles of interstate highway that need attention.

Fred: I have posted, but conveniently it has been ignored, the Tax Foundation numbers that show the "blue" states support the "red" states financially. Massachusetts gets back 82 cents for every dollar sent to Washington. Alaska receives $1.84 for every dollar sent to DC. Tennessee receives $1.27.

Here is the chart. I hope the link below works (otherwise just cut and paste).

Oh.....overwhelming number of Obama signs on the North Shore with only a smattering of McCain signs.

Fred and Scott,

I took a vacation up in your area about 4 years ago and both of you live in a beautiful place indeed.

Scott, I did look at the chart you mentioned. Why the difference in money spent in each state? Are you saying there is more "pork" in the red states?

I see more McCain/Palin signs in our area than Obama. Of course the majority of Illinois are Republicans - it's Cook County that pushes us to the left.

Mike ~ McCain signs are everywhere in Broward County Florida. This county is suppose to be Democratic, but many more signs than Obama signs. On a major intersection in downtown Fort Lauderdale, more than fifty people have large McCain/Palin signs and everyones honking, it was pretty exciting.

Florida will go for McCain for sure.

Mike:

Same thing here.  All around me in the burbs are McCain/Palin signs.  If I drive down to the city where there are more people on the government tit I see Obama signs. Makes you wonder.

Hi Scott,

I did see your comment on taxes and certainly well aware of how much I pay in taxes to support infrastructure in southern states.  I just think if we were not afraid of taxes and too powerful a federal government, we would all be better off.  Interesting, I do not hear too many complaints as the FED rescues us from our over indulgences.

So much for signs!
